Why can you ban teammate's champions?

Ok Riot. As you may or may not know a lot of your players are jerks. A decent percentage of players only play this game to troll. And this new draft system has set that up perfectly for them. Before, when we had teambuilder, you could pick any lane and any champion and you were assured to get what you wanted. You may have had to wait for a while but eventually you got it. Now, there's not even an assurance you get the lane you want. Then when you get into the ban phase if you have a couple of trolls that are one of the players choosing a ban they can ruin the game for another player. This has already happened to me or somebody else three times that I've seen and its only been a day.

This being said I have two requests for Riot:

  1. Bring back teambuilder- This is pretty simple. The explanation for why teambuilder was taken offline didn't really make any sense. There are many times when people want to play a specific champion in a specific lane. Now they don't get a chance to do that. I don't see why teambuilder and the new draft system can't coexist, especially because they really are nothing alike.

  2. Don't feed the trolls- If a player selects a champ prior to the banning phase he/she should be assured that champion unless the opposite team bans said champ. Too many people will take advantage of this opportunity to troll somebody else for no other reason than they like to troll. It really is aggravating when it happens to you and it also costs your team a ban that could have been used on a different champion.

The new draft system overall is pretty cool and really that's my only complaint with it. But if you bring back teambuilder I know I will be using it more than the new draft system and I think there's a lot of people that would do the same. I look forward to any thoughts and comments other players might have on this subject.

I feel your pain pal. I've been first pick blue side, picked tahm before the ban phase, and still had trolls ban him anyways. They always say "Oh the other team would've banned him anyways" then bitch let them waste their ban. Don't do them any favors. But what ya gonna do? Dodge and lose points or take a loss for a qualifier while that dick bag gets away with disrespecting you? Nah. This is what you do. Ban his guy, and if you aren't banning then pick his champion. If that doesn't work and you're prepared to take a loss then get in there and throw the match. Why? because no one crosses arlo the mutha fuckin dog

uhm, pick and ban order is still the same as it used to be.

if the captain doesnt want to take the risk of the enemy team picking the champion youre hovering over as lastpick, he might decide to ban him. the only difference to before is really that you openly tell your team which champion you intend to play.

the rest of the champ select phase is still the same. this doesnt stop the enemy from picking or banning him just like before.

{quoted} effectively meaning that in order to ban one of your team mates champions, you must report yourself, obviously with the report being thrown away after review if you had a good reason to do it.

are you some kind of desk jockey? or is this some kind of joke? only a bureaucrat could come up with the unpractical idea to make you read and fill out a form in a 30 second time window every time youre trying to ban a champion that your teammate is hovering over.

i hope this was sarcasm.

you can ban your teammates champions if your extremely hopeful 4th pick hovers over jax, your first pick isnt about to pick jax for him because he's first pick and he's selfish, and you absolutely KNOW that jax is not going to make it all the way to 4th pick if left unbanned.

however, there should be a pop-up when you attempt to ban a champion that one of your team members has selected that says something like this:

"You are attempting to ban a champion that one of your team mates intends to play! If you ban this champion, a report will be filed automatically. You may fill out an explanation for your ban in the box below, and it will be taken into consideration when handling your report. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** |I ACCEPT|**"

effectively meaning that in order to ban one of your team mates champions, you must report yourself, obviously with the report being thrown away after review if you had a good reason to do it.

That's just life. People want to play OP champions and people will ban those champions, even if they're on your team, so the other team doesn't get them. Now I haven't really tried the new system, but I thought Riot said you didn't have to show which champion you intend to pick. You can also just show a different champion from the one you actually want to pick if it becomes a problem (e.g. always intend Teemo but actually pick Champion X).

It happens, which is why I have backups.
