elo hell hahaha

silver 1 is the new gold 2!

so about half a year ago I climbed to gold 3 and was pretty happy with how consistently players 1) knew how to play the map 2) knew how to play the lane 3) knew their champions well enough to do neat things with their mechanics relatively (but not completely) consistently. this is something that, until my sudden rise from gold 4/5 to gold 1/2, I did not see many players with these skills occasionally yes, but just not consistently. but in gold 2 it was there.

so recently I dropped to gold 5 on that account, slowly over a few months. I just could not get the wins I needed to rise, tho I didn't feel like I was less good than before. so confusing. and it was frustrating because every other week when I dropped a level, it didn't get easier...

well so I logged into my smurf and have been playing on it this morning and last night. about 8-10 games and... tbh it seems to me like the level of skill is most certainly NOT the silver I'm used to, and is in fact about as consistent as gold 2/1 was a half-year ago.

players, if you are stuck in elo hell - realise it is because despite your improvements, the rest of the community is improving at the same pace. no longer is it the case that to get to plat you need to be able to learn fast - you now need to be able to learn faster than everyone else.
