Is it bad to gank too much as a Jungler??

I'm a support main, but there are times where I get stuck with the Jungler role. Becuase of me being a support main I feel compelled to help all lanes 24/7, and I don't know if this is a good thing to do. I mean if the gank is successful then they get a better chance winning their lane, sure my farm and levels are far behind, but it's worth if all other lanes win, right? Or no?

Ganking too much as a jungler isn't necessarily an issue.

Falling behind in gold and experience IS an issue.

If you are regularly getting successful ganks and taxing minions to help your ally push the minion wave into the enemy tower, you will be fine. However if your ganks are failing then you will quickly find yourself falling behind in levels and gold compared to your enemies.

I would recommend you try and get a couple camps between ganks unless you see really good opportunities for kills.

If you find that your allies don't seem to be competent enough to carry you (i.e. playing badly, throwing away any lead you give them, making questionable decisions), then it is generally a bad idea to try and get them ahead. You can still gank for them if you want to, but that is generally to (1) stem the bleeding and (2) get yourself fed enough to carry.

Support/Fill main myself so I get tossed into jungle a fair bit, ganking is always good but you always need to remember that you have your own gold and experience flow to think about too. Need to weigh the risk of falling behind in experience and gambling for a kill.

I know I am off topic but this seems very ironic for me lol.

so here is my 2 cents: if u are a carry jungler (ie kindred graves master yi)farm more, if u are a utility/tank jungle(ie gragas reksai) gank more.

if u are lee sin nidalee do whatever u want.

If you are starting to fall behind in levels, you are probably ganking too much. Then there are champs like Shyvana who'd rather farm up than gank.

I think the general rule of thumb is you want to gank when your ult is up.

I mean if the gank is successful then they get a better chance winning their lane, sure my farm and levels are far behind, but it's worth if all other lanes win, right?

In the end, laners need to be able to take care of themselves and the only ones who you should be interested in ganking for are people who are winning their lanes. If someone is having a rough time but hasn't fallen behind, you might want to make an appearance to take some of the pressure off. However if someone is falling behind, he's frankly not worth your time and is a risk to gank for.

As long as you're keeping pace with the game flow and ganking correctly. There's more to jungling then ganking where as you put helping 24/7.

A few starters would be...

Try for first blood, watch the minimap see what opposing lane is late to show up. You then know where the enemy started and can catch him at his next camp

Don't gank lanes that are feeding and I can't stress this enough because you see it far to often. If the lane is already fed and you're not odds are you will only feed them more. Instead what you should focus is helping lanes that still have a shot to win or are winning..

Don't follow the meta bull, the Yi is not a viable jungler, nor are any of the guinsoo's builds. Unless your team has a tanky top and support it's a horrible idea to mess the composition up even more. Half the people who play like this think they're untouchable and make the dumbest plays ever.

If you find yourself very behind in levels and gold, no, it's not worth it. I'm sure your team would rather you be useful all the time rather than just for a little bit until everyone gets ahead of you.

The trick to jungling is knowing when to farm and when to gank.

Depends on if you're getting anything done.

If you have shit farm but you and/or your teammates are ahead, that's not that bad.

However, if you have shit farm and your teammates are not ahead, then yes.

you as the jungler still have to farm and watch objectives (drag, herald, buffs, etc.)

If you are ganking successfully (securing summoners and/or kills and taking objectives after you succeed) then there is no such thing as "too much ganking". Gank away, just make sure you are accomplishing a goal with it.

My rule is that you gank already snowballing lanes to of course further their snowball and you only really need to gank other lanes to keep the enemy lane from snowballing. Their is such thing as ganking to much you aren't a support when you are in the jungle you need farm and levels like the lanes. You gank to snowball and to prevent snowball.

Pretty much try ganking once every 2 minutes, the rest of the time you should be farming.

Switch to a gank after every jungle clear if you're playing a devourer champion since you need stacks more.

But do remember to counter jungle if you're close enough to save your ally.

Yes you can gank too much. Just as a rule of thumb, if you don't think you can get a kill or blow a sum the gank is never worth it, and farming your entire jungle will give more gold than 1 kill.
