Why Aren't Promo Games Like Placements?

I'm genuinely curious why promo games aren't like placements in the sense that if you dodge you get a time wait instead of a loss. Last game I played my mid/adc were raging each other maybe 10 seconds into the champ select phase, and I'm sitting here like "well great, leave now and lose promos or play through it and probably still lose promos".

This is the reason why I have trouble promoting a lot on my accounts because it's uncanny how often it happens on one of my promo games, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. Personally I don't think it would be bad to exclude the loss from dodging and instead just force a time wait penalty for dodging for promo games specifically because they matter more than the games to get to promos.

Is there a reason why it's like this? ~5LP loss from dodging pre promo (avg player probably getting 15LP/win) and yet it counts as 1 loss for promo (effectively 3 wins)?

There will be too many dodges in that case. Just continue to play. If you are meant to be a higher elo, you will get there. Might lose a series or two, but you'll get there. Individual games do not matter. What matters is you improving yourself each and every game.

Agree, dodging should be valid and not count as a loss.

Also with this hard reset riot put out in ranked this season (I was 7-3 in placements [two losses due to afkers, one due to me being forced into jungle while the new queue system was down. im a horrible jungler] Gold 3 last season, placed silver 4 after placements) I gain around 27lp per win currently.

Honestly, I would just dodge every time until I got a perfect team comp with players who were all on winning streaks if you let me dodge promos. And if I would abuse it, other people would too.
