Remove Lost Chapter Mana on Level Up
This passive is the root of Lost Chapter’s effect on lane. Every time you level up, it grants you lots of mana, which was crucial when every squishy mage built the old Morellonomicon but now is excessive because of Manaflow Band and, for Archangel’s Staff rushers, Tear of The Goddess. Making it cost 1,300 gold just puts that passive out of reach of almost every mage’s first recall budget. The item might as well not exist in lane.
Without the passive, The Lost Chapter could cost 1,100 gold and see use during laning phase. The current approach of nerfing mage mana across the board could have made the item an interesting choice, but now Tear could become the default even for fed mages. After all, the new Tear will cost 850 gold, which together with a 435 gold Amplifying Tome would cost 1,285. For 10 less AP and 10% less CDR, mages will be able to permanently solve their mana problems and just waveclear whether ahead or behind. Champions of this class have too much mana, to be sure, but the current approach on the PBE is unwise.
