Season 6 is garbage

Durfain·2/21/2016, 8:36:29 PM·151 votes·6,698 views

Worst fucking season ever:

  • Towers made out of paper
  • AD itemization fucking broken
  • If you lose one team fight because of one mistake late game you lose the game, cue LCS games become boring because no team will engage
  • Tanks are garbage and whoever has the most damage wins
  • 2-3 Marksmen every single game
  • The overpowered Juggernauts from the revamp last season are still running around and still fucking broken
  • AP itemization is garbage except those items that aren't which are also broken (abyssal sceptre)
  • No wards removes skill from the game

As if this wasn't unfun enough, forced to be matchmade in ranked against full premade teams as a solo queue player resulting in a fucking unfair advantage for the enemy team and meaning your dynamic queue rank is meaningless.

Plus side: The new masteries are nice.

  • The overpowered Juggernauts from the revamp last season are still running around and still fucking broken

none of them has amazing winrates right now. of the 4 reworked, garen is the only one slightly above 50% (with a 5% play rate). mundo (after the nerfs) and nasus are doing ok.

illaoi, darius, skarner and morde are underperforming and could actually use some slight buffs.

otherwise i agree, and you forgot the snowballing minions.

Be like me and quit then, plenty of other games out there that aren't a fucking balance nightmare.

DQ is the biggest fail, you basicly cant rank up playing alone anymore.

I have to agree with the tower statement. I feel like I am getting jumped on my tower this season more than ever, get em nice and low and they are rewarded by killing both me and my lane mate (if I am bot) and neither of my enemies die. Towers need a buff.

I am really pissed off as a solo queue individual who ends up with the most mouth-breathing human beings on my team that I cannot carry my team to victory even if I rock my lane. The enemy team seems to have better communication and teamwork, while I get stuck with people who feed 1v5 every game. While I know I am not the BEST League player, I am by far not the worst, and typically I am the best on our team or the second best on our team and my other decent teammates and I can't carry when we do well. It just blows my mind. Been playing since S1 and I feel that S6 has come a long way in terms of being balanced. There used to be a lot of champs that would jump you and kill your entire team.

However, the matchmaking system could use some love. I swear it feels like I am getting placed with Tin Foil V dumbies that can barely operate moving their champions.

sated devourer is supppper cost effective. sure its balanced late game. any item is balanced late so long as its effective stats don't exceed 3600 gold. for 2450 gold i have no idea what the devs are thinking. not to mention they nerfed item 3075 . the old thornmail was broken don't get me wrong. but if there is ever a season where that brokeness actually belonged/made sense it would be this season.

Even then, sated is like the old madreds bloodrazer and plenty of on hits aren't physical. and now that gunblade heals off them sated gunblade witsend destroys, thornmail.

I just think we're a little short on counters to AA heavy champs. the AA speed slow on warden's mail is meh, (rageblade gives them 68% as) and its a global stat/helps team mates. so its not as great as a dedicated 1v1 item. We'd need an item that gives you dodges on hits or something. Counter picking helps but shouldn't be the only solution to handle them. It can be the main, but there should be some kind of contingency plan, dmg control type item.

Let's be honest:

  • Who cares about the fucking turrets? Game times are significantly more varied than preseason, where games were stomp fests, AND season 5, where Jinx and Vayne were the main adcs because the game ALWAYS got to 40+ minutes. Early game champs can now do their jobs and end the game early/mid-game if they're played well. The turret has to fall EVENTUALLY.

  • Pro play will always revolve around safe choices. The only way this won't occur is if death was meaningless or near meaningless, which would require making respawn timers significantly shorter + making towers significantly stronger, but that would transition us back to having a shit ton of tanks and abusing late game carries...again. Then everyone would whine about Vayne, Sejuani, Malphite, and Fiora, cause Fio's the primary anti-tank fighter in the game.

Still, safe play is true for nearly ANY pro scene. Even Pokemon's pro scene, if you understand what's happening, revolves around going for the most gain you can manage to take over your opponent while risking the least amount of damage to yourself, and that influences one's team comp, moves per pokemon, items, and mega evolution choice. In fighting games, rarely will people go for reckless offensive plays, and most players either work on solidifying their defense or perfecting their offense so much that they cover a wide range of options to the point where they're "safe" on offense anyway. No one's looking to stick their neck out for no reason.

  • AD itemization as a whole isn't a problem. It's really just a few cases, which they're already working on Sterak's and Titanic Hydra, anyway.

  • "Tanks are garbage". Meanwhile two threads later someone's gonna complain "Tanks are stupid broken". Any individual post making this type of blanket statement is usually false. There are some tanks that are good right now, and some that aren't. Just like any class of champs.

  • Seriously, where are you guys finding 2-3 marksmen per team every game? If it's 2-3 in general every game, it's always been that way. What's new?

  • Juggernauts aren't even overpowered.

  • "AP is garbage except when it isn't". -_-

  • Wards were nerfed and greens were removed from the shop because they're basically a "Winners win more" option. Losing teams gain from both sides lacking vision since they can try to catch key targets out by surprise or try to sneak Baron/Dragon without being seen. Winning teams gain from both sides lighting the rift like a tree because they don't give a shit if the opponents can see them coming...they're fucking stronger. By nerfing vision, they made room for losing teams to come back.

PaladinNO2/22/2016, 5:15:44 PM6 votes

Wait, we actually have towers still? I thought they were just remodeled pink wards. :O

Worst fucking season ever:

This is said every season, welcome to the boards.

  • Towers made out of paper

Would you prefer much longer games where sieging/split pushing is drawn out and boring? Right now there's a lot more critical thinking in play. "Do we try and siege this one tower where the enemy has plenty of waveclear and one guy split pushing, where we can try a 4v5 then push in the base? Or not risk losing towers for nothing and rotate to other lanes, going for a potentially larger gain if we do this right?"

  • AD itemization fucking broken

This is just an exaggeration. The items are not game breaking. Maybe overtuned won't try to debate that, but not even close to game breaking. Broken =/= unbalanced.

  • If you lose one team fight because of one mistake late game you lose the game, cue LCS games become boring because no team will engage

Key word...LATE GAME. That is what late game is meant to be. If you lose a big team fight, then the enemy can freely push into base and win. Everyone is at or near full items which better be able to end a game in 40-50 seconds with the death timers. Otherwise that would just be a very boring 45 second push that doesn't give a win. Actually there are still plenty of games that are near blood baths (check immortals vs. c9 and a lot of korean/eu games). Some teams will avoid fights because they respect each others' skill and damage so they want to avoid giving an advantage, rather using rotations and pressure to bring about a less risky advantage.

  • Tanks are garbage and whoever has the most damage wins

Check win rate charts, tanks are not garbage lol. The reason why popular teams are running with heavy tanks is because they're running team comps with good damage that the damage dealers can provide their own forms of CC to make up for a lack of tank. (GP's ultimate, Lulu's or Ori's ults, Alistar/Braum/Nautilus supports, Elise/Rek'Sai/Gragas jungles). If you look, when there aren't those kinds of champions, then teams planning will pick tanks instead.

  • 2-3 Marksmen every single game

This is more of an issue with a few case championsCorki Graves Quinn being too strong compared to others while having strong range and safety compared to other champions than other champions, making them really strong in team play when coordinated. And we all know plenty of players will mimic LCS if it seems to work. I remember getting a few lucian tops after that one game.

  • The overpowered Juggernauts from the revamp last season are still running around and still fucking broken

Another case of broken=/=unbalanced. Though I honestly think the champions themselves are fine but items are a bit forgiving towards the weakness of most melees (trouble reaching targets without a gap closer). Granted, this would need more looking into, which is because of the lack of large difference in general base stats between classes and champions, making certain items give the same strength across the board where some classes weren't even weak in the area but now can seem overbearing in it. Mostly looking at item 3742 and item 3053 , because of most champions having similar base health pools, not much difference in base MS, and base AD being high in enough champions for the item to give more AD than other pure AD items would.

  • AP itemization is garbage except those items that aren't which are also broken (abyssal sceptre)

item 3027 item 3089 item 3157 item 3285 are all still pretty strong. Remember, costs were raised but overall AP given (if you buy Rabbadon's at some point) will be about the same.

  • No wards removes skill from the game

Actually it brings more skill, teams need to make the decision between blue or yellow trinkets for the type of coverage on the map they would want, as well as making pink wards more meaningful but not as useful comparatively. As well as making it so jungle pressure can more easily exist where people can't just go throw a lot of wards with no ease of clearing, making the map lit up when coordinated.

As if this wasn't unfun enough, forced to be matchmade in ranked against full premade teams as a solo queue player resulting in a fucking unfair advantage for the enemy team and meaning your dynamic queue rank is meaningless.

...This only happens in 2% of games when looking at 5-man queues. Which means even lower percentage overall. So no, this won't happen to you every time, it may happen once in a blue moon. Never happened to me at all, both when i was as a 5-man and as a solo. And that one in every hundred or so games shouldn't stop you from climbing.

Plus side: The new masteries are nice.

This i agree on completely. :)

I agree with all points, except the juggernauts part

The 2-3 Marksmen teamcomps just rek the juggernauts because they can't ever get freaking close without the enemy totally messing up

Seriously, Darius or Garen vsQuinn is a goddamn nightmare, Graves less so because of his recent nerfs

There's no reason to pick Skarner anymore except if the enemy is immobile as hell

Mordekaiser es not numero uno anymore because he's not OP anymore and is therefore UP

I would add that games are decided in the first 6 minutes.

I like the removal of stealth wards though, potions are enough gold dump.

And Zed players are taking full advantage of this time

Vistha Kai2/22/2016, 4:26:25 PM2 votes

AD itemization fucking broken

All of my yes. I got my hands on Zed once. Played aganist AP. Rushed Hexdrinker. Unkillable. Then got Maw of Malmoritus. They were quite literally healing me.

And that's only one of like 8 new or buffed AD items.

AP itemization is garbage except those items that aren't which are also broken

Broken compared to all of this nerfed crap APs are left with, for sure. But that's putting it in the wrong light. Other items needs buffs and/or reverts(like that idiotic Zhonya nerf), not Abyssal a nerf.

Plus side: The new masteries are nice.

No, they aren't really. There are pretty much only 3 sets of Masteries that everybody uses. Two of them are Cunning. I mean, I had nearly 20 mastery pages last season. This one I have maybe 5.

Diversity, my ass.

lolptwo2/22/2016, 4:50:06 PM2 votes

Dyanamic Queue is the worst for me, If I play alone I get set up with premade of 4 or two seperate groups of 2 duo's on my team. They either are completely toxic or troll and make the game unplayable for me. So i basically cannot play solo anymore and just wait for a friend to come on, with is also troll because all my friends smurf like me and we just end up destroying every other team. Bring out True Solo Q!!

Only Play Darius2/22/2016, 6:59:34 PM2 votes

Hopefully the stale LCS games will force Riot to bring back wards to the shop (or at least massively buff yellow trinket ), as now they see what competitive looks like with hard limits in vision.

Also the 5 minute 3 man top-bot tower trades that have become meta in competitive areally beyond stupid

Rebonack2/22/2016, 7:13:04 PM2 votes

But we gotta delete Dominion so more resources are available to make Rift even worse.

DeloricVI2/22/2016, 7:24:36 PM2 votes

Even the new masteries seem bad to me; a lot of champions work far too well with thunderlord's decree. I'm not saying it's broken as launch TLD, but it is still one of the most popular masteries. Death Fire Touch doesn't appear to do much so people don't bother, Warlord's Bloodlust just gets ignored, No one but me takes Stormraider's Surge (Seriously, I'm the only one I've ever seen use it, which is a shame). The only thing I really see people take in ranked are about 3-4 out of 9 keystone masteries; that's a little less than half.

DoT mages, burst mages, and some casters just don't have a good mastery to take; no one likes death fire touch, many people would argue that your damage doesn't change pretty much at all when taking it, statistically speaking, so they don't like it. I dunno, maybe I'm just low elo and this is just an opinion, but a lot of people still just take Thunderlord's Decree every game, every champion, and there aren't many good damage options for some mages.

Especially my fave mage champion. Veigar item 3070
