Trying really hard to push for gold to get the skin but I guess riot said no. While in silver one I'm still getting the issue of winning and only getting 10-14 lp and a loss nets me -20. When I got close to a win suddenly I have 450 ping and can't figure out why. After a 3 loss streak (the first 2 made it so i went down to 0 lp) I am demoted.
Is the ranked system really fair?

I would say the ranked system is as fair as we can honestly expect - what I mean by that is this.
Riot is aware, painfully aware, that bad matches happen. All they can do, rather than try to force fair match ups is (which is a nightmare to do, plus make for REALLY long queue times) is make a RNG match up system. So, the matches become more fair the more games you play, thanks to the law of averages.
you were losing vs silvers prolly so system thinks that you are not on golds player level

Try season 3. Every win in Silver 1, you only got 4-6 LP. That is a true dream killer.
The amount of lp you gain and lose is based on your team and enemy team total lp. If your team has lower total lp, you'll win more lp and viseversa.
