Why does the game still start when I dc in champ select?

I was in champ select and my rounter died which disconnected me from the server, after I fixed the problem I came back and realized the game still started and my team remaked it, making me lose 20 lp instead of 3 lp.

Why on earth would the game still start when I disconnect from the server in champ select? This not only made me lose lp for no reason, but also wastes my teammates and the enemy team's time.
