Ranked point distribution on loss needs new mechanics.
Hello folks, I'm sure anybody who has had the joy of starting out a bronzeV knows, the point loss on a game loss doesn't quite line up....
I'm speaking ofcourse, when you are sitting at a glorious 10/2/8 and your raging toplaner sitting at 0/17/5 and the rest of your team is afk. Now I know as well as anybody that K/D/A is relatively meaningless in higher tier play. There are more important things like map control and objectives which can be used to define a player.
However, In lower tier play, the K/D/A values often speak for themselves, as I find very little "tactic" or even meta in the early bronze tiers. My solution to this discrepancy is to allow the "best" scoring player of the match to not suffer point loss. The "best" value could be pulled from the K/D/A as well as turret kills and other suck factors.
I am quite aware there are some problems with this system. Allow me to address the arguments against it and make my solutions clear.
First off we have the problem of some players being slingshotted out of bronze because of their role and champ type leading them to naturally having the "better" score. The easy fix is to only implement this system of point loss prevention for the bronze league. so players who enter silver V and aren't ready, will be dropped out back to bronze1 quickly.
Following that we have the fact that allowing one player to avoid pointloss takes away from the "team" aspect of LoL. Players will be encouraged to simply bolster their own score instead of actually working for victory. I have two strong arguments against this. Mainly that players who follow this behavior won't actually manage to win matches and this win points, but merely stall out their own point loss. And also that most bronze players are too new to the game to recognize the importance of teamwork, and mainly focus the easy gratification of kills.
do you agree? could my idea use some polish? am I an utter idiot? (totally possible, this is the internet after all!) You Decide! merely drop a comment below to be engaged in the battle of convoluted videogame mechanic ideas!
(also, don't forget, an upvote means I struck your interest, not that you agree!)
