Are Mid-line/Utility Champs Weak With New Rune System?
No evidence to back anything up here, but it feels like burst and tanks are rather strong right now, but the stuff in between seems relatively lacking. Either you can (safely) rush straight into the enemy and not die instantly OR dish out a lot of damage yourself to either delete the enemy or offer up enough of a threat they leave you alone. Could the removal of the armor/mr runes be part of the problem since a lot of champions that focused on trading in the past would use those. Perhaps buff all champ's base armor/MR by a small amount to bring things back in that direction a bit? This would effectively lessen burst and make trading potential, efficiency, and other intangibles that aren't pure damage or durability a little more desirable.
Not to make this too champion specific, but as a
main I remember in seasons past being able to decently trade. Could I setup kill combos like I can now with Comet? Surely not. But I could toss a stun, we chunk them for say 30% of their hp to discourage them from pushing too hard then simply back off. Now either the enemy is so scared of us they stay out of range or we're scared of them because one tiny misstep and you're dead (especially with hook/engage tanks being so potent). Speaking personally, I'd by far rather use a more durable Klepto playstyle and trade, trade, trade than be a stun/burst/kill bot like I am now. Maybe the Resolve tree minors are too weak? I've got other theories, but the current meta just doesn't feel fun.
