The Math Behind the New Ahri Q

Lately I was getting extremely annoyed in the fact that no sites I am familiar with, including the League of Legends Wiki, have added what the movement speed given by Ahri 's tweaked Q is. As thus, I went in game and crunched the numbers myself. First: Her Q is a PERCENTILE buff that scales on FLAT movement speed. Other percentile buffs do not stack with it, however the flat movement speed from all boots scales. Second: Her movement speed at level 1 reduces from 545 to 410, at a rate of 15 movement speed per game tic over 9 tics. Third, and here's the interesting part: The ratio of movement speed gained decreases with flat movement speed. While the total movement speed you gain with a flat increase rises, increased flat movement speed has diminishing returns The difference between the maximum movement speeds between having no boots and Boots of Mobility, which gives a flat 100 movement speed, is only 53. The difference between the minimum movement speeds is 78. This shows that both Maximum and Minimum have diminishing rewards. As the buff reaches the Minimum the diminish in ratios decreases. Finally, we get to the actual numerical results. Ahri's movement speed on her Q begins at aprox. 252% at 0 flat movement speed. At 330, her base movement speed, she gains 165.15% movement speed at the Maximum, and 124.24% movement speed at the Minimum. At 430(431 stated in game), her flat with Boots of Mobility, she gains 138.75% movement speed at the Maximum and 113.23% movement speed at the Minimum. As her movement speed rises, she loses approximately .2641% on her Q's ratio per every 1 flat movement speed gained.

I would love to hear from whoever gave her ratios if this is actually the case, or what the case actually is for Ahri, until then this link has the raw numbers, in the event I messed up and someone else would like to correct me.

This is incorrect. Ahri's movespeed bonus is a flat 87.5% decreasing down to 24.24-%. The results you are seeing are a result of the soft movement speed cap effect, as illustrated in the wiki: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Movement_speed

The effect is that at 415 movespeed, additional movespeed suffers from a multiplier of 80% efficiency.

At 490 movepseed, additional movespeed suffers from a multiplier of 50% efficiency.

If you perform your calculations with these numbers, you will correctly predict the amount of movespeed she will have.

What you are seeing here is that ALL movement speed has diminishing return after 415 and more after 490.

Let me figure out what it actually is.

I think the biggest issues are:

  1. It's on a 50% uptime.
  2. The duration scale with move speed.
  3. She can do it for out of combat movement speed.

At the moment it's effectively Whimsy on a 4.2 sec cooldown, as a secondary effect on a standard skillshot nuke.

This is rather nice to know as it gives some insight to how they could slightly reduce it if needed (57% win rate for 1 day isn't a big deal but if for a week or something then yeah maybe it will need some tuning)
