Extra Rune Pages

Apart from Burning Extra Blue Essence on them what function, exactly, do they serve us anymore?

I can edit, delete, and create new pages in champion select. And it really isn't hard to do. 30 seconds is plenty of time to set one up for the game.

I've 8 rune pages and only because I felt like burning some BE because, lel why not. Same with mystery wards when those were a thing. And I even bought Zoe on release week (played her a grand total of ONE time).

BE just feels like Monopoly money to me at this point. I'm at over 12k with more to come with every level up I gain and the only remotely useful thing to buy with all of it are rune pages.

But there's no longer a reason to buy more apart from the convenience of selecting custom presets from a small drop down menu.

I'm almost sorry if this subject has been brought up before, but I personally feel like there's simply nothing left for me to purchase with BE since rune pages are no longer set in stone in champion select.

Am I the only one who misses the fact people had to invest a little into the game and then strategically plan their runes out for a multitude of possibilities including needing to fill in any role as well as having to counter certain enemy team compositions?

On a side note, as I am writing this, I figure that by the time the next champion is release, I'll have enough BE to purchase no less than 3 champions on release week. And I am more than certain there are players with hundreds of thousands more BE than I possess.
