Minimize deaths, don't go for #lcsbigplays unless you're confident it will work.
Win a teamfight, take shit. Win game.
Games aren't won by the team that makes the most great plays, they're won by the team that makes the fewest mistakes.
CS like a madman. If you get a gold/exp advantage it's a lot easier to snowball a game.
Minimize deaths. Not only does this minimize enemy gold but it also allows you to get more cs/exp which allows you to snowball the game.
Never chase for kills. You can have 100 kills and still lose the game.
Always think "what's the next objective I can take." Objectives win games, not kills. Anytime you get a kill you should ask yourself "what objective can I take." Objectives, objectives, objectives. Are you starting to understand objectives are important?
Blame yourself for everything that goes wrong, rather than your team.
In pretty much every scenario you could have done something different that'd improve things. If you ever die (and you almost certainly will), think about what you could have done differently to avoid that death. Don't think "Bah, trash support didn't ward that bush so I died because of them letting me ganked", think "Oops, I saw there wasn't vision there and I went there anyway. I'll have to play further back when we don't have vision.", and you'll go pretty far (not to mention be far more agreeable to your teammates).
I also recommend against playing seriously when sleep deprived or when otherwise not in a good place. If you're tilted, for most people you're going to want to take a break, since many people perform worse when tilted, which leads them to more losses and bigger tilt, and things can spiral downwards pretty quickly.
Get CS and pressure side lanes.
Objectives. CS. Map pressure. Dont play team deathmatch, its not call of duty. Kills do not win games, they are an element of the game. When all else is failing, go back to the basics...as stated above. When dragon is up, take it/fight for it...dont aimlessly run around looking to kill someone, its a waste of time. Dragon is way more beneficial than 300g.

Watching pro streamers can also be helpful due to them explaining why they do certain thing while also being entertaining!
Youtube videos can also help with mechanics and basic game knowlege. An example of an old but gold video is Shurelia's zoning tutorial:
