Why do people go red smite on Hecarim instead of blue smite?

I understand that it allows your AAs to deal true damage and it acts as an exhaust on the enemy player when they attack you, but blue smite steal attack speed and thus raises yours doesn't it? I'm not sure how much and whether or not that difference is substantial, but why red over blue?

Chilling Smite only reduces movement speed. It has no interactions with attack speed.

Challenging Smite reduces the initial burst you's take vs a lot of champions, and Hecarim almost certainly wins the DPS race, making it a superior option.

The slow is less useful on him than other champs since he is faster than other champs and has good gap closers.
