Now that you're creating clients for other games (LOR), TFT should not be on the LOL client.

It would be one thing if you were going to retrofit the client into some kind of Launcher for all the games Riot intended on making (even though it's held together with duct tape), but now we've seen that this isn't your intention.

TFT is not a League of Legends gamemode.

It's an entirely different game from League, with its own audience.

The things that draw people to League are completely different from those that draw people to TFT. The audiences do overlap, but it's not much.

If they don't want to play League, TFT players shouldn't be forced to keep League's (comparatively large) file on their PC.

If they don't want to play TFT, League players shouldn't be forced to not only keep TFT's file (however small it is) on their PC, but also shouldn't be forced to watch League modes be removed with the devs pointing at TFT as some dubious defense.

As a player with no interest in TFT, but plenty of interest in LoL, I agree. TFT on my client is an eyesore. It's like a blinking surrender vote pop-up that won't go away. How can I say this any clearer? It not only serves absolutely no purpose to me whatsoever... it's a royal pain in the ass.

I understand that there are players who like to play both LoL and TFT, just like I understand that there are players that like to queue up in ranked games and spam surrender rhetoric. It's what they do. I get it. But it sure would be awfully nice if RIOT could move some of these things off screen for those of us that simply have no interest in such things. It would be a real QoL improvement.

And, you know what? There may be some upcoming games (that aren't LoL and aren't TFT) that RIOT is planning on releasing that I might be interested in playing... and I still wouldn't want them to intrude on my LoL client experience. I just wouldn't. The ideal situation would be to have the ability to switch from the LoL client to a TFT client or some other client, a client that might actually be interesting instead of a client, like TFT, that is not interesting at all.

You know what's also aggravating? TFT loot. Just... stop, please.

I like having TFT and SR on the same client because sometimes I am waiting for my friend to get on and I want to play but don’t want to risk a 30-40 min match. TFT is plenty of fun, relatively shorter than SR (sometimes not had 34 min game once). Sometimes I even play just because I don’t have a team holding me back. Godforbid I play ARAM or poro king. ARAM can be fun but poroking is awful. Lost the game in like 7 minutes and the poro King is stronger than most champs ( I want him as a champ). That said TFT is both a fun filler game as you can say but also a fun game in general, I think leaving it on the league client is really convenient.

Also I don’t see how the TFT can be distracting or an “eyesore” either. Also, if you don’t play TFT at all you can still get free emotes and stuff by claiming the orb thing.

I mean, I disagree somewhat, since I do enjoy both normal League and TFT, and switching would be obnoxious, but I wouldn't really be that upset if they were split, either. However...

but [non-TFT players] also shouldn't be forced to watch League modes be removed with the devs pointing at TFT as some dubious defense.

Did they ever actually do this? All I remember about that is TT getting removed because it was a dead as fuck mode and TFT being an official, permanent mode around the same time. They were unrelated events, as far as I remember.

Nexus blitz was removed ages before TFT existed, and they're still doing RGMs, just less frequently than when they first came out (and that frequency went down years ago), so it can't be either of those...

Alternatively, stick every new game on the same client so it gets so fucked up that we can look back at the 2020 client as if it was a flawless masterpiece.

  1. No. It's not. It directly borrows from and uses aspects of League's skill sets, uses the same platform (PC), and borrows from the same friend lists, and its shop is directly tied to League through hextech.

  2. These other games are mobile games, card games, etc.... and were designed and simplified to NOT use the exact same skill sets, the same pre-purchased skins, and the same operating systems (Although it was designed to run on Windows, it was primarily made to be compatible with IOS and Android)

  3. I don't understand why such a subject is even a big deal: a) TFT is partitioned on its own tab in TFT, meaning League only players don't/aren't required to interact with it much. b) League doesn't exactly take a huge load on your memory and hardware capacity.

It seems like the only thing people find offensive with TFT is that it exists, when they believe that certain fixes/changes should be happening to League, and that they're "not because Riot's off cheating on League with new games."

The truth is.... different development teams, massive amounts of resources, and many of the things YOU think need fixed.... Riot disagrees.

but also shouldn't be forced to watch League modes be removed with the devs pointing at TFT as some dubious defense.

So much this... its ridiculous that LoL gamemodes are being removed due to how they compare to TFT when TFT isn't even the same game as LoL.

For example: Halo 4 removing Capture the Flag because of the playrate of Halo Wars 2. (To clarify, this example is a completely fake scenario)

ITS NOT THE SAME GAME!!!!

A Bad Nasus1/13/2020, 6:03:57 PM5 votes

It is just another tab in the client who cares.

Ionian Vulpix1/13/2020, 12:12:45 PM4 votes

Probably not because there are functions for both League and TFT tied to the account. RP purchased in it can be used for both games, which is one of the big reasons they said they aren't adding the other games to the client too.

Jeddy0171/13/2020, 3:22:34 PM3 votes

I get the feeling at a number of TFT players will just uninstall the client once TFT comes out on Mobile (where it belongs if you ask me) & play it on their phones.

In fact, they're gonna have to create a TFT client/launcher for Mobile because we can't use the League client on our phones.

Worst JG Wins1/13/2020, 8:02:40 AM3 votes

They actually can't do that, because TFT and League share rewards that are usable in both game modes. Little Legends are usable in ARAM and emotes and used in both. Well they could i guess but it's definitely not worth the time and money it would take

QuZeed YT1/13/2020, 12:11:05 PM3 votes

True, I want to see nexus blitz instead of that mode in the client. TFT and League of Legends are separated games.

Since they are doing new clients for other games maybe they can remake the league client as well. I had the same bug twice yesterday where i couldn't change my runes because the window didn't load. I don't understand how I encounter less than 5 client bugs in every other game I played last year but can't even count that high of the number of league client bugs.

Wild Geese1/14/2020, 7:19:21 AM1 votes

I think the opposite. All the games should be in the same client, including LOR. Kind of like how Steam works, or Blizzard.net, Playstation Network, Xbox; or really any game client. All the Riot accounts should have one connected client, what's the point of a separate front-end each game? Best to make a brand-new client to facilitate this.

Pie Otter1/14/2020, 2:44:45 PM1 votes

I agree. I actually sorta enjoy both, but I would prefer for them to be separate.

VoidedEvergreen1/15/2020, 5:21:47 PM1 votes

I don't think the removal of TFT from the client should be a thing. If it wasn't for TFT being on the client in the first place, I wouldn't have played so much of the main game in the first place. And that it (TFT) shares the majority of the same assets from the base game, skins and characters, I don't want to waste more space by downloading all the same stuff again to play a different game mode. But I see it as a bonus to keep it as when I group with my Doods, we play TFT as a way to cool down, and something to waste time while some of us need to eat or deal with a IRL situation.
