Demotion from Gold V to Silver

So after a month long climb fest from Bronze lll to Gold V, I finally made it the other day. I honestly surprised myself.

Now I'm interested in something. I lost 3 ranked matches in a row at Gold V 0LP.

I heard somewhere that the system warns you that you'll be demoted soon if you lose too many games. What are the ins and outs of getting demoted? I'd like to play ranked as safely as I can. After all of this work I'd HATE to lose Gold.

You need to fall down to roughly Silver V elo in order to get demoted back to Silver. It takes quite a while but you can check your MMR with na.op.gg and see where you stand. The biggest key is to not go on serious losing streaks, you lose MMR and LP quicker that way.

I've experienced tier demotion before but never actually experienced the warning(s) that exist according to riots help pages.

In any case, you need pretty big lose streaks to get demoted a tier, requiring an MMR a full tier below as others have mentioned. Assuming you got to gold legitimately, it's unlikely that it'll be an issue. If not, or if you have an exceptionally unlucky streak, I wouldn't worry until you start getting silver 4ish people on your team, since that means you're almost to silver 5 level where the demotion would occur. If you're still mostly getting silver 1s/gold 5s then you're probably fine.
