Yasuo doesn't seem to be in a healthy place right now.

I hate Yasuo. I hate having a Yasuo player in my games. I don't like having one on my team, or on the enemy team. The reason that I don't like having a Yasuo player in my games is that it feels how good the Yasuo player is has a disproportionate impact on the outcome of the game. In other words, games that I play with a Yasuo in it it feels like it's much harder for me to have an impact on the outcome of the game. The majority of games it feels like either the Yasuo player falls behind and gets frustrated and just feeds, or else gets ahead and steam rolls the game. There rarely seems to be a happy middle ground. Not only is he an incredibly skill based champion, but he is also bursty and squishy, so he becomes insanely feast or famine. I don't actually expect anyone to do anything about this, but I just thought I would share why I do not enjoy seeing this champion in my games. I see a lot of discussion of champions being overpowered or underpowered, but not a lot of discussion of champions having a disproportionate impact on games.

He is a feast or famine champion, in my opinion it is not healthy for the game as a whole. It is just that he has such an overloaded kit when he was released, it is hard to make him not broken while also balanced. Nobody in the entire game as a champion has X2 crits from buying the same items, as well as a shield and an ultimate defense windwall. with knock-ups and a knock-up ultimate for additional CC and a Q every .8 seconds with a dash for every minion/player for insane mobility.

When most Champions are feast/famine (such as Akali at different times of her buff/nerf cycle) it is usually because they're reliant on certain factors. Akali was heavily item dependent; her hybrid scalings meant that once she got items, she was an absolute beast but she needed to get them faster than anyone else. If she couldn't get that early momentum, she never hit her stride.

For Yasuo the factor is less gold/items and instead is team composition. Yasuo's team can have a (disproportionately) large impact on if he'll hit his full potential. Yasuo has a massive combo factor with his ultimate - Malphite or Wukong alongside a Yasuo can provide so much team-wide damage and CC that if they get a control over the field they feel unstoppable. However a team that isn't set up for Yasuo's gameplay patterns (poor initiation for him) can be more of a crutch for Yasuo than another Champion.

I think Bard has a similar problem, actually. His "roaming support" playstyle (along with a very situational ultimate) means that Bard just won't work well with a lot of team comps. But if the team clicks with Bard? He can be a major force.

Overall Yasuo has the same components of any other Melee ADC. Tryn, Yi, Yasuo, Riven etc. all have similar components (gap closers, defensive ability, damage amp), but where Riven can jump 1v5 into a fight if she'd fed, Yasuo sometimes needs more of a team effort.

Yasuo is very skill reliant, yes. Also, he is very teamcomp reliant. He is actually weak if there are no other knockups on his team.

That's how I feel when I have literally any assassin in my team in this meta. They Either feed or get fed but even if they get fed their impact is just sub par comparing to mages. Because, once late game starts and all that tanks, irelias, and fioras get fed, your assassin is going to blow job them...
