AD Items NEED More Impact For Non-Marksmen.
There are so many AD items - not just crit - that are bad on virtually all non-marksmen that it's dizzying. I actually feel like my brain is in a washing machine looking at these items and comparing them to even AP items. So many of them are bad, except on crit or on-hit marksmen.
One might think, 'your so rong
' and that one would be stupid. Many of those are specifically designed for melees - you HAVE to build them as there are no substitutes - and then unless you're an assassin or your champion's name is Fiora there's literally 0 incentive to rush more than one of them. Lethality is its own gimmick as well that assassins TRY and use to bully squishies, often not succeeding as these delicate creatures travel in packs, one with every heal, shield and form of CC that we mortals can possibly comprehend and another with an AK-47 that never misses.
I'm no pro at League - not by a long shot - but having achieved plat multiple times with my other account and gold every season past s1 with thousandS of hours in ranked as specifically AD top laners I have grown all-too familiar with these abominations Riot calls items which are really ripoffs in comparison to the rest of finished builds. My opinions on these items come from WAY too much experimentation and hands-on experience in ranked. They get no sympathy from me.
What does it do? It's got tank shred, right? But it also comes with an active slow? It only has some AD AND AS AND Lifesteal, so no matter when you get it or who you get it on it waters down your dps against the targets that matter and is ultimately just a filler item with a niche active?
Garbage. It deserves significantly more AD for its price or a much better passive. Marksmen make it work because ranged crit.
All this ever does is pay for itself, minus the shred AFTER landing attacks and abilities. It's only ever useful for helping your marksmen do damage, not doing anything significant yourself.
This forces melees to buy a butt-ton of health and largely ignore other damage items and even then it isn't that good on most champions. People only buy this to be a meatshield for their team for a little while longer in fights, let's be real. The fact that actual tanks never touch it speaks for itself, bar maybe Ornn and Sion.
Justify this on a melee who will have greater or equal health to everyone at all times because they aren't about to build full AD in this meta nor with this horrible selection of AD items.
Melees could really use a bonus here, like +7 or +8 mana on autoattacks for melees instead of +5. It's embarrassing that this item still exists in its current state.
Back when Lethality was good this was relevant. Now that the stat has been deemed assassin-only this item is terrible. Assassin is a terrible class to associate with Lethality anyway, by the way, as they are already shoehorned into going for squishier targets in the first place and Lethality apparently puts the nail in that coffin. They will never be able to kill anyone else on the team in an even game but squishies that wander off alone (which will never happen against a competent team) so long as assassins are meant to build Lethality every game and nothing else.
Face it: when you buy this item you're never thinking "SWEET, MY POWERSPIKE!" (unless you're drowning in sarcasm). You think "I'm gonna suck, starting now, unless I magically get a triple kill". Nothing about it scales, and nothing about it is worthwhile beyond exactly when you buy it IF you rushed it and if you did you didn't build

. It could at least have a bit higher price and either significantly more AD or a relevant amount of lifesteal; like come ON Riot! This item is so sad on melees as it is only a taste of the power that marksmen will have throughout the whole entire game, on-purchase, if they rush it.

which is definitely busted. No one ever finishes this item anyway because games don't last very long which is exactly my point - WHEN will people want to actually finish this item if they aren't a marksman? And when a non-marksman can, would they really want it over something with more resistance and actual HP instead of 10% CDR, a situational shield 40 minutes into the game and an amount of AD that can only be described as underwhelming? Anything less than 60 AD is very easy to scoff at for an item that costs 3k+; Riot should know this by now.
1.) Why does this not build out of Hexdrinker and have a Hexdrinker effect if it's the only other AD+MR item?
2.) WHY did they give this item equal treatment for marksmen when they were clearly buying it anyway!?!?!?
I feel like these items are on their way to being moved to a waste dump by Riot themselves. I half-expect the Season 9 meta to be specifically itemized for 2 marksmen per team minimum, plus a mage who tries their darndest not to feed all game and 2 supports/tanks. Eventually all that will be left in the item pool will be tank items, crit items, two lethality items, exactly 6 AP items, Tiamat and more marksmen items than there are marksmen. That instead of buffing these items or at least making them more relevant to melees will be their worst mistake yet, even worse than Runes Reforged.
