Feral Flare Is Against This Game's Philosophy

A jungler has 2 options at any point in early-mid game. These options are 1. gank 2. farm.

If a jungler chooses to farm the early-mid game, he will not be able to one shot anyone, but he will be strong enough to handle himself in fights. He'll beat out who he counters, match evenly with his equals, and get wrecked by his own counters. We'll call this "Average" power.

If a jungler chooses to gank, he is risking his own farm in order to spend time hitting a lane. There are two outcomes here. 1. If his gank is successful. In this case, he should be rewarded with gold and XP, and thus have slightly higher than average damage. 2. If his gank is unsuccessful. He should go back to the jungle slightly battered and a little behind average. The average jungler was farming that whole time, so while that gank was happening with no benefit, the average jungler was still getting stronger.

So far, TL;DR is (Farming Jungler == Average Power) (Successful Ganking Jungler == Above Average Power) (Unsuccessful Ganking Jungler == Below Average Power).

In other words, there should never be a time where you can passively AFK farm the jungle and have way above average power by the end of the game.

Which is exactly what feral flare does.

feral flare is already deleted... if you really cared about game balance you would already know this. Methinks someone got wrecked by feral flare (whether because your teammate was useless or enemy had like 200 stacks who knows) and rushed straight here to complain.

well I believe it's not on live yet but it's 100% going away and soon

hahahaha oh god I only read the title and just realised you were calling flare OP/broken not UP/noobtrap

I'm not even going to bother anymore because you have no idea how jungle works if you are complaining about flare when NOBODY EVEN BUYS IT AND FOR GOOD REASON.

too busy laughing /peaceout

edit: just by the by, even with the new item not requiring 30 stacks before it does anything at all like current flare, it's STILL not going to be the be all and end all, because hardly anyone wants AS and on-hit anyway.

You're wrong about both things you said. I think feral flare is against the game's philosophy in that passive/easy gameplay should never be rewarding. It isn't about a recent or tragic experience. The next thing you said about feral flare being deleted is also false. On PBE there is a new item that does essentially the same thing.

I'm making a statement about the item being anti-fun regardless of whether it's broken, balanced, or under-powered. However, you, while steering the conversation away from the argument, are plainly just making things up. People do build feral flare on certain junglers at all levels. Here are some recent pro match histories that feature almost 100% feral flare builds: http://www.probuilds.net/champions/MasterYi http://www.probuilds.net/champions/Warwick http://www.probuilds.net/champions/Twitch

I think its safe to say that you, while very confident, just have no actual idea about what you're talking about

I faced off against a Xin Zhao in a recent match - I took Skarner. He built Feral Flare - the AS allowed him to wreck everyone he attacked because the three-hit knock up was constant.

The funny thing, he was so powerful he lost the match. The reason is simple enough. He went 33-something low-something else low. The highest kills for the rest of his team was 5. He was charging into lane and stealing his allies kills, and he was very skilled, mechanically.

He failed to understand the basic concept that he was keeping his own team underfed so my team could ignore ALL his allies, focus him down, then sweep up the rest and win.

He was stacked with so much tank and dps, I actually thought we would lose until I saw how negatively his exceptional performance was impacting his team.

Lesson: You can't carry the game alone. Feral Flare is almost game breaking on some champs.

bump for the importance of game balance.

Whining about an item that is going to be gone very soon. Makes sense...

sorry for double post, i didn't realize the new forums have a reply button that actually orders things

probably beating a dead horse here, but feral flare also consistently has over a 55% winrate:

http://www.lolking.net/items/3160#statistics

as compared to elder lizard with around a 50% winrate

again, not at all the point i'm trying to make (I'm talking from a purely philosophical standpoint and not from a balance stand point) -- but just responding to what you were saying.

I'm not sure if you've read it or not, but this is the devblog about jungle: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/preseason-2015-new-jungle

Feral flare is being removed as you see and replaced with enchantments and different items. Actually all the previous but Machette is getting removed.
