Can We Get Jayce Buffs?

Many champions were hurt in the preseason due to the removal of brutalizer and the last whisper changes including Jayce. Many of those like Zed and Kha'Zix have received buffs to compensate, but Jayce has gotten nothing. Also Essence Reaver was something Jayce liked to buy, but now it's been geared toward crit and it's not great for him unless he builds crit.

Ideally I think it would be better for Jayce to get new items or buffs to his current ones like Manamune, but right now he's in a bad spot and it would be helpful for him to be buffed until he can get some better items (Like what was done for Zed before Duskblade).

I swear I saw a post by a Rioter during the preseason that said Jayce might be getting changes early this year, but I can't find it and nothing has come of it yet.

Jayce EDIT: I found it From Meddler: "Yeah, we think we'll need to do something for Jayce early next year. Itemization changes in 5.22 seem to have hit him pretty hard. Might look at Manamune and/or Muramana buffs, still figuring out which lever's best to use (is it a lack of power on kit or a lack of support from other systems)."

Honestly, I take jayce into a game if a need a win. He can be incredibly oppressive, and if he gets a kill or two ahead can carry the game pretty easily. He beats down towers super fast and maw is such an amazing item for him. The current item choices keeps him relevant in the current meta.

Simple fix give him crit scaling

Example Q increases in damage by 1% per 2% crit up to a 50% bonus damage

W gets similar treatment

E makes way gate increase MS by an additional 1% per 5% crit change up to 20% bonus MS

R wouldn't need a change

I found the comment I mentioned:

Ezreal is an exception, but besides him the few other users of Manamune don't have very good winrates Urgot Jayce Yorick

I think IBG is more of the problem on Ez anyway

He...doesn't really need them. He's not underpowered, just unpopular because he isn't overpowered

Brody Biggu2/15/2016, 10:37:58 PM2 votes

Please dont buff Manamune, Ez is too much already.

Jayce :

Just buff the W on melee form, it does not synergy with Jayce whatsoever

IDK I play Jayce a decent amount and I don't really think he needs buffs. The only one he could use IMO is either a mana regen buff or mana reduction to some of his abilities so he doesn't go oom after one combo early game. I don't think his win rate/pick rate tell the whole story.

It's correct Riot mentioned Jayce. However, i don't know if anything will ever happen with him. I used to be even with Diamond players on him last season, now i can hardly beat Silvers. Its especially his lategame that suffered really bad with no %armor pen. However, Boards hate Jayce for some strange reason, and even if he was at 30 % win rate "he is fine, l2p does not need buff", and trust me, if they buff him (like they did with his 6-ability rework), ppl complain BIG and harvest a LOT of free upvotes. It boggles my mind of what ppl hate so much about him, i don't see what about him can be considered toxic...

We will have to wait and see. Riot have made a LOT of changes, and more are coming. They sometimes buff a random champion, lets hope the next is Jayce :) Else, an indirect buff that makes Deathfire Touch synergize with poke, and do the type of damage the poke spell is can make him viable again? I am checking PBE every day and hoping....

He is in a strange place isn't he. He builds tear/manamune which is a mid to late game item since you have to stack it before it gives you any offensive power plus his high scalings and six ranked abilities make it seem like he should be a heavily late game oriented champion yet he seems to do worse late game.

This guy makes "Diamond in 100 games or less on X champion", and, guess what, Jayce is the first champion he has ever failed with! If he has played a lot of champs to Diamond, he must be quite good... and he also advocated for buffs. I hope Riot hears him

I'm thinking that Jayce's two weakest areas are his passive and hammer W. A small movement speed bonus every switch isn't very interesting and I think a better passive could go a long way to making Jayce more viable. His hammer form W is also very boring. There's no thought to it you just use it when you engage with your Q. There's never a reason not to use it.

As for it's mana passive it's a little weak as far as similar passives go. Considering it has some relation to mana I kind of like the idea of Lightning Field scaling with Jayces mana. That way it would get stronger as he stacks tear and not just have a great ability power scaling that will never be used because Jayce never builds ability power.
