I'm enjoying Malz again for the first time in ages. I have one question- why is his ap still so far below what it was pre-rework? Is that how powerful the passive shield is?

The rework was more or less pointless, but don't take any of the things above for granted.
The base damage is down across the board while the ratios are down only for Nether Grasp and Null Zone.
They can't be higher because its insane to think having large ratios and base damage on top of being inherently safe is a good idea.
That being said... The lower CD's and the resetting function of E can make up for the lack of individual spell damage.
I'm also enjoying Malz again after a year of fuckery. Plus the Malzahar pseudo-revert came right on my 3rd year anniversary from when I started League.
Its still really hard to see his minions in a fight, they need some kind of indicator when they target you like Yorick.
He's proooooobably going to get nerfed in a couple of patches, so if you think his AP ratios are low at the moment, then I don't know what to tell you.
