@Riot, Let's talk about Iceborn Gauntlet and Sunfire Cape
Hi, recently, we are seeing quite often both
and
as part of tanks/bruisers item set, providing both durability and offense. There is also something else, aside the great synergy both items have together, might be a source of problem; their cost and gold efficiency. Let's take a look at several tank item prices:
: 2700 Gold.
:2700 Gold.
:2900 Gold.
:2900 Gold.
:2350 Gold.
:2800 Gold.
At first look;
and
are the cheapest item as it provide Health, Armor and strong passives. Second question? Does both items are Gold efficient? Let's make a look at those items (if you want to have all the math behind it, go to Lolwiki).
: 96,3% Cost efficient without the passive.
Spellblade passive with optimal use of the passive, double its cost efficiency of the standard
(61.9% to 134,94%). This is for standard Spellblade, now with
, had +25% extra base damage over
(which is about to be nerfed to 100% in current PBE) and a frozen area that slows enemy. I can easily comclude this item is at least over 150% cost efficient with optimal use of its passive. Even with the upcoming nerf, the % will still be higher than 140% if we follow the logic of Spellblade cost efficiency.
: 86,42% Cost efficient without its passive. You can see already the difference with
. Gold efficiency for its passive is hard to count/find as it is a damaging aura that helps you greatly (thanks to its latest buff) for farming as well adding extra damage against an enemy champion. However, the downside of this item is it attracts aggro from minions, towers and monsters during fights.
passive aura must worth at least 300 Gold to bring this item cost efficient and I do believe it worth easily that amount of money, if not more as it gives a non-consumable extra resource to farm.
: This item is 87.36% Cost efficient without passive. However, this item is a niche pick as to be cost efficient, you have to fight against at least more than 1 champion that use Crit Chance in his kit/items. In addition, the slow passive is very effective.. If you reach the enemy. A champion w/t some form of gap-closer, won't benefit so much from this item than let's say
.
: 80,46% Cost efficient without passive. With passive, maxium cost efficiency is 105.29%. As we can see, this item is well balanced as the state it is right now and are required for champions that need to reach his opponent to deal their damage (looking at you Juggernauts).
: 85.11% Cost efficiency without its passive. This item is semi-niche as the cost efficiency will be quite varied and dependent on your Armor stat as well enemy team composition. So on paper, this item can be over 100% cost efficient if combined with other armor items and** further increase** if the enemy team is AD composed !.
: 105.71 % Cost efficient without its passive! This item is excellent and its aura increase its cost efficiency exponentially with an enemy composition based on Auto Attack!
After analyse, here's my suggestions that may help the "metagolem" problem we have with
:
- Increase item cost for both items. Further cost increase for
due to its passive. - Decrease Spellblade % Damage (already suggested and tested in PBE).
- Decrease Armor Bonus offered to
. (
gives 20 Armor, big jump to 65 Armor). - Add a gradual damage increase to
's passive so you won't deal full burn damage within the 1st second of contact. (adjust values in consequence)
If you have taken the time to read, thank you. Comment, discuss, suggest. :)
