Older Champions vs. Newer Champions

In this video when gbay99 pointed out something very true, the older champions are having some harder times keeping up with the new ones and their kits where as the old champions became less viable when new champions that counter them easy such as the example stated in the video, Kennen vs. Irelia, and the older kits such as Swain are somewhat viable but not in all cases for example swain might get 9 mana for killing a minion and then Diana deals an extra 50 or so dmg on her third autoattack which if you look swain has a clear disadvantage, I mean I'm not trying to say "Oh, all these new champions make the older ones completely useless and trashy and that no one ever plays them" that's not what I'm going for at all.

Just an update to their kits would greatly benefit them like for example when Sion was reworked it greatly benefitted him because he was having trouble keeping up with newer champions(especially when no one knew how to play him or what to build). Needless to say all the newer champions have thing like mobility, range, survivability, etc..

When it comes to more of the classics that haven't been reworked like Rammus who has a bit of mobility and survivability, but has to rely on his abilities to stay consistent with these whereas an Tahm Kench came with the durability/survivability, utility, and a bit of mobility, which makes it harder for say a Nunu support to be more viable. Or someone like Zilean who is all buffs and a bit of dmg, he has lots of utility but lacks other stats such as someone like Lulu or Tahm. If anyone has any sort of points to add or negate please comment. I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this! :)

Singed The very first champ does ok... but then he sees that Ekko has 3 slows, a stun, a shield, a gap closer and a big projectile...

Then notices that an Ani-cancelling Riven cannot be caught up to, or ran away from, even with his ult going and mobility boots. Makes him wonder why he didn't get more buffs this last patch, instead of just getting the MR per level that EVERY OTHER CHAMP ALREADY HAD!?

But, whatever, at least he farts on people...

Yes, older champions definitely have a much harder time. They have been nerfed much more over the years (some more than others), and their kits are less effective than when they were first released.

Paragraphs please.

Those "indirect buffs" actually have hurt his early and mid game significantly. All for a smidgen more AP at full build. I'd call them a wash really.

LoL has been around for a lot of time and there have been changes in philosophy and ability to deal with certain mechanics. most of older champions had more solid and straightforward roles/kits/assets with clear weaknesses which were visible from the simple reading of the kit and not about how a single player played said champion.

It's also true that some of the older champions become pretty more powerful if ahead compared to newer. A fed Mordekaiser is far more scary then a fed Ekko for example. Again, this doesn't apply to every single champion. And Riot is working to bring in line some of them without the loss of the thematic (which is also not a simple thing to do).

We will see what happens with Taric.
