Thoughts about Queue and LP penalty for dodging at champion select

With the overwhelmingly danger of being called a whiner, salty player, troll or what ever else that might come in mind, I write this anyway in the hope that someone can explain to me in an understanding way why it is fair to be penalized so heavy for dodging a game in champion select.

This might only be a Bronze problem I don't know because I have never played anything else than bronze, but I really can't seems to get my mind around why it is fair that I lose LP and get 20 minute queue ban and worse if it happens many times.

Take for instance this real example.

I get in to a ranked game and the first thing written in the chat is the midlaner, who wanna play top, asking to be top. Nothing wrong with that, it is a fair question. He is then asked what champion he wanna play top in which he reply, Teemo. He is then denied the toplane because everyone, besides a selected few brain dead, hates Teemo. Then starts a flamewar like no other and the pregame chat is as long as the IKEA catalog written in lettersize 8 even before bans are done.

It then happens that our last ban person had enough of the shit and he bans Teemo as the Teemodude go on yabbing about then he just play Teemo mid and he will not help in any other lane and he will not do any teamfighting. With the result that we now have 2 IKEA catalogs in chat.

He then go "Fuck you guys, I am trolling this game" and pick Soraka mid.

At this point my "team" is in full conflict and I have a hard time figuring out how on earth the game will be even playable. Then our Jungler go "okay troll game" and he pick Sona Jungle.

I now have 1 of 2 choices. 1. I play the game and spend 20 minutes in hell and report the team after the game which is, for the most part, not yielding any results. On top of that I lose X LP for a lost game that should not have been started in the first place. 2. I dodge the game and I will be the only one loosing LP and I get banned from joining a new queue for 20 minutes, so again 20 minutes wasted.

So now, dear reader, can you tell me what to do and why it is fair to be double penalized for dodging.

First off, it's not a ban. And the reason why there are disincentives is very simple: if there were none, the amount of dodges would sky rocket. People can and would dodge for the slightest reason and you would spend far more than 20 minutes waiting to get into a game.

He is then denied the toplane because everyone, besides a selected few brain dead, hates Teemo

There are many reasons why someone wouldn't want to switch and there are many people who don't hate Teemo because they don't find endless amusement in the same unfunny joke being repeated verbatim for 3+ years.

In my eyes leavers should instantly drop to 0 LP in their current division and get a 1 day ban for dodging a ranked champ select. I'm just tired of waiting 30+ minutes for a gold game, not because of queue time, but because of the fact so many people are actually leaving champselects. And no, this isn't just a bronze thing. Even in platinum so many guys are dodging. for some reason the most dodgers are playing at night, atleast i made that experience. when i play at night, i usually need to wait 20-40 minutes until a game really begins. my honest opinion.

Considering your MMR doesn't drop and the LP loss really small (at most, it's about 5 LP I believe), it's really in your best interest to just dodge the game if you have a confirmed troll on your team. Saves you 20-40 minutes and probably 4x as much LP.

I don't see how anyone gets placed in Bronze. I have never ranked before this season (a few months ago), and I did really shitty in my pre-ranked matches, ..

Still got placed in Silver IV.
