How to get out of Silver?

Buutenks·5/2/2016, 8:36:59 AM·1 votes·655 views

So currently I'm in silver 5 and I keep rising to 100 points, then losing my series qualifications and going back down to 50 points. This has happened so many times and i'm not sure how to stop it.

Is there any tips or champions which can help me get out of silver 5?

Thank you.

How to get out of silver? Carefully.

Serious answer though, try not to tilt / flame. Not saying you do that, but I know 90% of this game is mental. Try telling your team mates "GJ" and what not if they ever do anything that's beneficial.

Just farm, and if you can't stay in exp range and get what you can. 90% of people not climbing in silver is "GG I died once", then they flame and blame and tilt their team. Just get what you can, build for the team fights/late, not for lane.

I can't ell you how many silvers I could have carried if they just focused on what mattered. Objectives, and won team fights. I've hard carried people as tank Jhin top, my team shut up real quick.

Try to get a good pool of champs that are good all a rounders and learn their limits. Stop following useless guides. I've seen so many losing teams just copy paste guide builds, completely ignoring the state of the match, and the champions in the field.

Respect ally pings. Check mini map at least once a minute. USE YOUR WARDS! Just let it go, don't chase into darkness, they aren't going to run to their deaths. Don't troll champ select, ignore your team if they flame your pick. MUTE! Mute those toxic mf's and report in post game lobby. Don't over roam, I've seen a lot of silvers throw leads by roaming too much.

By role, learn the following if you play

Top - Ekko Maokai Sion Nautilus Malphite Volibear Tank it till you make it. Mid - Anivia Fizz Ekko Zed Velkoz The key to mid right now is not dying. That's it. I mean do moderate damage of course, but don't die for it. Jungle - Nidalee Udyr Khazix Kindred Ekko Diana GravesEvelynn Right now junglers usually decide the game in silver. You want a bully that can win if you ever run into the other jungler randomly, as well as a skirmish champ that can win the 2v2. ADC - Caitlyn Really the only one I recommend over others at silver. ADCs are pretty even right now for the most part, depending on team comp. If you were to pick one to main regardless, Cait has the best zoning, which wins the most games in silver. Support - Taric Soraka Blitzcrank These are the 3 gods of supporting. They are each the best in one area, and even though each has weaknesses, they usually aren't exploited in silver.

Here are some tips..

Play defensively until you ward up. Doesn't matter if you think you can kill someone. Just wait two minutes and go get vision. There are exceptions, like for the first 2 minutes of the lane phase or when the enemy team is all visible anyway. But just chill otherwise.

Do not default try to save someone. This turns one kill into two or three or five so often. Run by default when there is no hope, as you run, consider if you can save whoever is caught or dying.

Do not just go back whenever you want. You may have no mana, you may have money for an item. Watch the map first.

Don't be afraid to go off the meta if something suits you. I went ignite top in silver, pretty much every game. Working to your strengths is more important (if they are actual strengths) than following guidelines.

I will tell you what has worked for me and hopefully this provides you some insight and direction.

I have only played the game for a year, but I have managed to get into gold last season and this season. I was fortunate enough to have several friends in real life that are very good at the game. When I was learning they were able to provide a lot of advice, so I learned good habits quickly. One of my friends was Diamond V last season and the other 2 were upper gold.

Getting out of silver can be tough if you are still learning roles and champions.

  1. Try to master 1 or 2 champions. Play them a lot. Grind with those two champions and play the other ones in normals. You should understand the limits of your champion. Before a fight even starts you should KNOW before a fights starts (in a 1v1 scenario) if you can win the fight with certainty without another champion entering the fray.
  2. Focus on learning 1 role and practice another. Try to learn similar roles or roles that have synergy. If you like the bot lane try learning ADC and Support. If you like solo lanes practice top and mid. I think Jungler is most similar to the top lane but it can also play a carry or support like role. It looks like you play mostly in the bot lane so that's a start, but I wouldn't play other roles in ranked if you want to climb. Silver players often make the mistake of trying to play too many champions in too many different roles in ranked. Stop it. Most gold players are good with a few champions and OK with the rest. Even higher Elo players still only have specific roles and a small champion pool.
  3. Limit deaths. By limiting your deaths in a game you will get better. You should never have a 10 death game, ever.
  4. Understand when to take objectives. This is hard to teach and you typically develop a sense for it from playing.
  5. If you have vision of the enemy jungler on the top half of the map (or is dead) you can take dragon in most cases if your team helps. You may be able to take baron if the jungler is dead.
  6. Don't shove lanes where the enemy's inhibitor is already down. Shove another lane, the lane with the super minions will shove on its own.
  7. Take towers if you are grouped but don't waste time. If you have 3 teammates on the bottom half of the map and 1 enemy holding that tower while the enemy team are all in their own lanes take the tower.
  8. Don't chase kills unless you KNOW you will not die doing so, AND you do not waste time. I chase kills, but I do so when I know I will not die AND there is nothing else (an objective) that I should be taking. I always say a good rule is if you think there is a a 1 in 4 chance you will die before securing the kill that you want to chase DON'T do it.
  9. Take tower/objectives after a teamfight - silver players don't do this sometimes. There is no reason to not take objectives after a major fight.
  10. Play patiently. From your profile it looks like you play hypercarries. Focus on farming and play for the later game then, being too aggressive can lead to mistakes and get you behind, so just farm and avoid picking fights early on because if you farm you will be stronger than the other adc if they are also not a hyper carry.

And finally, watch a player that is significantly better than you and streams. I learned a lot of cool stuff about how to play my champions by watching gold or higher Elo streamers that main them. I definitely got out of silver by watching people better than me.

Pick the broken champs...that's all there is to it. Games are decided in champ select nowadays.
