New Garen

New garen seems to be fitting in the solo queue meta in a very weird way. His kit previously allowed for more counter play for melee champions because there was a reasonable chance that you could just run from his q and fight him while it was on CD, but with the new garen it is difficult for melee champs to take advantage of his q cd because if a melee champion wants to do dmg to him they have to be inside his e range. And most melee champions cant out damage his e because of all of the buffs. So the garen changes have made garen very strong against all melee champs. This is while he sacrificed his ability to deal with ranged matchups which he would've previously had a hard time with. This creates a state where garen is not fun to play against if the opponent is melee, and is not fun to play garen if the opponent is ranged. So basically every time garen is locked in 1 person is guaranteed not to have fun. I don't know how riot likes to balance champs, but I think that a healthy champ allows both the person who is playing and the person who is against to have fun.

I think that changing garens e to not apply conqueror with every tick would go a long way in making him more reasonable in 1v1's

The fact they still treat Garen E as unstoppable (any cc doesn't stop his spin) shows how skewed their design philosophy is. Not to mention Garen's core design is still >build tank > be unkillable > deal lots of damage for no reason < after all this time, I doubt they're going to make any sense when reworking anything.
