Now don't get me wrong, love me some J4. If you need a tanky initiator jungler who can easily solo that squishy adc with just a warrior enchantment... And Lee Sin is already taken, then J4 is your man.

J4 does it all. He's fairly tough to kill on low money, he's very mobile, he initiates fights like a mother fuckin boss and he can dish out a metric fuck ton of damage... But you know, if you only need 3 out of four of those things, I can name you a bunch of other champions that do it better.

This is where I feel the challenge comes in balancing J4, because he does so very many things, that if you ever give him any stats to back it up, he's just insanely overbearing. So this is what I propose...

Pick a thing that you want him to be good at. Is this the helpful Jarvan who rallies his team under the banner of demacia, giving everyone stats off his flag and generally being that boss-ass front line who can also threaten the backline, or is this the full ad Jarvan who backs the Dunk Bus over the heads of your squishiest member with the greatest of ease?

Personally I much prefer the first kind of Jarvan myself, I feel this is more in keeping with his lore and general theme, but I wouldn't be adverse to the other kind, just pick what you want him to be, cause right now, he's trying to do everything only not really cause his base stats are attrocious.

My own thoughts for helpful Jarvan would be to lower the damage on his q a bit or keep it the same but give it less ad scaling, give his flag BACK the armor aura and put a max hp scaling value on his w. Something like +5% max hp as shields plus 2% for each champion slowed by the shield for a maximum bonus of 15% which, let's be honest, in a world where Darius can heal for that much while also doing a shit ton of damage is completely fair. Probably also drop the ad scaling on his ultimate but also lower the cooldown of it slightly. More dunks for less damage. This would make him a direct opposite to Gragas. Very tanky and very team focused damage output. He's not going to be soloing too many people, but he WILL be holding them down more to let other people wail on them and all the while he'll be in the front soaking damage on his shield and with all the HP he's built.

For Assassin Jarvan, you could drop the base damage on his Q but increase the scaling and give his Q a shorter cooldown and mana cost when NOT used to E/Q combo. This would allow him to use it as a laner as a harrasment tool without either going oom constantly and would mitigate the risk of using it and then not having it to escape 5 seconds later. Make it the opposite of Nautilus' Q, or even, put some of the damage from his Q into the knockup effect.
