Analysis on Shyvana (yes I play her and she is actually viable)
So... shyvana... remember her? what used to be the old tank eater? yea... good times... She is still good, people don't play her at all. She is actually pretty fun in the sense you seem useless and then you ult and your just an unstoppable force once you have a titanic hydra and nothing else but armor health and magic resist. However may I remind you how broken she was before, where her dragon form made her so incredibly broken they had to nerf it, it came all the way from her dragon form firing 5 e's at once with burning ground, to a single skillshot with an explosive aoe, and the w not leaving a burning trail. Shyvana has been on a long road.
Abilities: Shyvana's passive is... well... she gains extra damage against dragons, which is why she is such a good jungle champ. Also, she gains bonus armor and magic resist, but as your team gets more drakes, that armor and magic resist increases even more, it's a pretty good passive, howeverif you fall behind on drakes your going to have a hard time. Her q is basically... her next auto attack does more damage (BOY WE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE), however in her dragon form, it works as a tiamat from the target, so that's cool too, it's a decent tradeoff too. Her w is basically a karthus e, except its temporary and it costs nothing (as do the rest of her abilities), it makes a field of fire around her that deals damage to enemies in it, basic attacks further extend it, and she gains extra movement speed by a hair with this ability, so ALWAYS have this active whenever you can, and its bigger in her dragon form. Her e is FUS RO- nevermind, it's a skillshot of fire that damages all enemies it hits, marking them, meaning your basic attacks on them will deal health percent bonus damage, which is pretty scary and even more scary in your dragon form, since your e does bonus damage and an explosion that burns the ground. Her ultimate is why she is so fun, you turn into a freaking dragon and the whole enemy team is screwed, unless your behind... anyway to cast it you need fury, which builds up over time, but cuts the time a little shorter by landing attacks. On activation you fly to a target location turning into a dragon, damaging and dragging (dragon) people to the target location you fly into, it's freaking awesome.
Playing Shyvana: Shyvana can work as a top lane or jungle champ, and why also top? because she shreds on tanks thanks to her e of course. Which a lot of you are complaining because of her passive focusing on getting dragons, but you still get the buff if someone else on your team gets it, so there's that. Early game, start with w if your going top for an extra push because early game that ability is a nightmare to deal with. If your starting with jungle, use your e since it causes your autos to do percent health base damage, helps a lot against red buff. In a team fight, if you can, go ult, its your best option and your an unstoppable force, use your e as a ranged tool, and your q and w as a close up tool.
Against Shyvana: When fighting a shyvana, early game in top, she is a threat due to her e so make sure you dodge that whenever you can, its easy with champions with dashes like riven, aatrox (somewhat its a small dash), and so on. Also focus on the w aoe field around her, its deadly early game so wait out until you reach level 3 till you can start trashing her. When fighting shyvana in jungle early game, she won't be as much as a threat early game as you would in top, since most likely in top your a tank. Anyway just be aware of the e as always. Mid and late game she most likely has her ult, if you see she has full fury, take caution before she goes on a rampage on you, her dragon form is one of the most powerful transformation abilities in the game, as it greatly influences her current abilities. If she has very low fury, its a good time to engage her since she is vulnerable at that time.
Builds:
Starting the tip of the iceberg, start off trying to build a
, it will give you better waveclear and faster way to get fury, as your basic attacks speed it up, and since it will hit more targets due to the cleave, you have more fury to gain. Next, build either
or
depending on the enemy team comp. Finally, build
, for better engage and easier to get to lane because unless you use your w, shyvana is slow apparantly. After that, just build anything else with bonus health, armor, or magic resist, its better not to build damage because your e makes your attacks deal bonus health percent base damage. The only ad item you should have besides
is
because you have more lifesteal, and even more health percent base damage, congrats your an ultimate tank eater now.
