Who is the hardest Champ to play?

Just wondering what you guys think on this. Who takes the most time to learn, and who has the highest skill cap?

I used to think Zed was super hard to play.

Garen

Get him to high elo and see how you have to do way more work than everyone else

JuiceBoxP8/30/2019, 1:18:45 PM4 votes

Azir Aatrox Katarina Zed Draven Kalista Ekko LeeSin

You probably won't carry as your first time playing these guys

Pyrosan8/30/2019, 3:45:37 AM4 votes

Zed's piss easy all you have to do is W Q E in laning phase until 6 lol Once you've learned base mechanics you can't really push the limits

Azir Shaco way harder to be good at

AlienPrimate8/30/2019, 4:02:45 AM3 votes

With how overnerfed they are due to pro play, I would say Azir Ryze Kalista . These champions are not allowed to be good in solo queue because the pros can abuse their tools. It takes a lot of skill to use these champions effectively.

Galio, because youre weak as shit and theres a 73% chance youre going to lose.

A lot of people would disagree, but Camille has some insane positioning requirements and risks that need to be taken to reach her mid / lategame stride. E into W midflight is hard to pull off consistently if you don't play the champion, and always timing your Q windup during E travel times can be challenging.

Also playing Nidalee to her full potential is nightmarish.

First of all. Not a SINGLE Champion in League is actually hard. Either some game knowledge/tactics or some muscle memory/reaction is all you'll ever need to succed with a Champ (Usually both with differnt weigth but let's keep this easy).

Immobile Champs that can't chase you to the end of the world need tactics, Mobile ones need reaction. It's up to everyones own judgement which one is harder to pull of.

Zed as Champ hardcounters alot of others. Winning lane against them is not skill, it's the default outcome. Than again he gets countered by a bunch of others. But once again, due to his powercurve going even is is not that hard.

The only time where we can talk about actual difficulty in his design is mid to lategame when he did NOT snowball out of controll. THAN and only than, you need actually decent skill level to still be relevant (But that's true for alot of Assassins).

If you're asking about my opinion on the hardest champs in the game right now:

I'd say AurelionSol and Azir. Both need insane game knowledge and decision making to be succesfull. ASol has matchups that are straight from hell and REALLY needs to play with his team. Winning lane with him against them is something I can truely respect. While Azir has the advantage of Mobility his mechanical requirements quite high and due to his lategame scaling having impact at crucial points in midgame is really hard to achieve.

The hardest Assassins to pull of? Probably Talon. He has mediocre Range and (infight) mobility and works on mana. As soon as you find someone who does not let him selfe get cheesed at level 2/3 you will have a quite challenging game ahead of you.

I wouldnt say that Zed is the hardest champion, he definitely isnt the easiest, but once you learn the mechanics of him and how to play around your shadows, you notice that he may seem hard, but in reality you just have to know what youre doing. Basically hes not too easy to start with, and has a high skillcap, but not the hardest champion.

When it comes to my idea of the most difficult champion to play on, personally I'd say Draven. For some reason im able to pick up any champion and nearly flawlessly replicate almost any mechanic or combo, but I cant for the life of God catch a single axe that draven throws. They for some reason bounce all over the map, and no matter how hard I try im never able to get them to bounce in the direction I want

Every champion is easy when you put a little time in them.

Kenneky8/30/2019, 1:06:24 PM2 votes

That is a subjective question If you ask me. I find Garen and Nasus difficult to play, since both lack hard CC, but people will say they are easy so what do I know... Or even someone like Talon even tho I mastered him I still find him difficult to perform well, since he is less mobile that the rest of the assassins and doesn't really have an escape but his E (if he's close to a wall) or Flash.

Hemulen Magi8/30/2019, 5:10:44 PM2 votes

In my opinion, Nidalee and Azir.
Nidalee 10/10 difficulty to pickup, 9/10 difficulty to master Azir 9/10 difficulty to pickup, 11/10 difficulty to master

I tried to learn these two, but I never got good with them because of their steep learning curves and how much commitment is required.

I see other people mentioning Zed Yasuo Draven LeeSin Kalista but those are all way more approachable in my opinion, which is reflected in their much higher pick rates. I'd give them:

Zed 6/10 difficulty to pickup, 10/10 difficulty to master [Resourceless and strong at all stages of the game, but does have a lot of room to grow in mastery. In my experience, he makes you 'feel' skilled to play, but he doesn't necessarily require much practice at all to get to a baseline of success.]

Yasuo 7/10 difficulty to pickup, 7/10 difficulty to master [Has certain clunky parts of his kit that take learning, but mastery feels like just learning to recognize when to fight. I don't see him as very different from other extremely snowball reliant champions.]

Draven 6/10 difficulty to pickup, 7/10 difficulty to master [I don't think he should be on this list. He's harder to play than some other marksmen, but most experience with other marksmen is still interchangeable. Learning his axe minigame isn't that much of an obstacle in my experience.]

LeeSin 7/10 difficulty to pickup, 9/10 difficulty to master [He's actually pretty much the AD version of Nidalee, but I find him way easier to pickup and succeed with with due to greater brute strength and easier jungle clearing. He is still hard to master, with lots of room for personal improvement.]

Kalista 3/10 difficulty to pickup, ?/10 difficulty to master [Kalista is kept so weak that it's hard to figure out what her potential could be if mastered, but I can't say she's hard to pickup because I know from experience that the skill floor to kite with her is literally holding down shift and spam right-clicking her fountain in a fight. If she wasn't undertuned, she would be one of the lowest difficulty champions in the game.]

Bard is quite tough to play well, a bad bard will hard int a decent bard will not feed too much, and a good bard will make game winning plays.

Bevdog1018/30/2019, 4:53:25 AM1 votes

You want hard?

Play Draven. Draven

GodlyBane8/30/2019, 1:03:43 PM1 votes

Yasuo ot Aatrox

Ofc perspnally i can learn every mechanic pf a champ in <4 days if i try hard enough, so every champ really just has a day learning gap nothing crazy. However the only one that ever challenged me was yasuo, took a week or two to master him, ao thats why imo hes the most difficult to master.

used to be riven. technically still is. she is just so op, you dont need her mechanical skills.

Troll Slaiyer8/30/2019, 7:47:22 PM1 votes

actual hardest to learn imo is Thresh . i admire a beast thresh.

Cryotron8/31/2019, 3:58:53 PM1 votes

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Sylas.

But what do I know. He's still really strong. :^)

Lapis8/31/2019, 4:45:33 PM1 votes

If you want a challenge, try to master the lowest winrate champions! If Riot's leaving them in the gutter, winrate-wise, then they're probably high skill champions if people generally don't do well on them. Those champions are (when played in their intended role and not something like Qiyana jungle): Yuumi has the lowest winrate at 44.06% in the support role Azir is 44.62% winrate mid Braum's sitting at 45.69% support Irelia is 45.71% top And fifth is Corki at 46.29% mid

Five champions seems enough to choose from, I think!
