What's with all the complaints about supports and sightstone?

Yes, it's a very good item to buy, we're not even debating that. I just don't see any reason to make posts like this other than to vent at support players and put the blame on them. Vision involves the entire team. If the support has wards, you'd better be willing to help him put down vision without being killed by the enemy team. They have a responsibility, you have a responsibility. That goes for pinks, too. I try to remember to buy pinks every game.

And in general, I see no purpose in complaining about my teammates other than to vent. I always focus on what I'm doing wrong, not what my team's doing. Because you're playing with 4 other random players every game, so what is the point? Anyone who wants to improve will reflect on themselves, first, after every loss - not their teammates. And no, making a thread on gameplay won't magically make it so that every support is going to buy a sightstone from now on. If you asked them to in game and they didn't, I don't see them reading your post and changing their mind either.

Also, I'm an ADC main and I never play support. Just putting that out there for people who will assume I'm a support main.

Its not so much a stream of supports need to buy SS.... its more of theres supports who do not want to buy sightstone and so they make comments saying they shouldnt be pressured so much to grab it.

To reduce queue times some people pick fill or support just to get in a game and then just pick/play however they want. So you are seeing a lot of complaints about supports and what they are doing.

I don't understand the sudden surge in posts pertaining to sightstone usage the past 48 hours or so either.

I basically figure if the value in a sightstone isn't self apparent, then they're probably bronze anyway, and have far bigger issues then their itemization.

Non-supports buying sightstone is rare, but not because non-supports don't appreciate vision, but because they typically need to build damage/tank to perform their role. If the support focuses on building damage/tank, then due to their reduced budget compared to laners they'll always be less effective at those tasks, so support building damage/tank and the solo laner who'd normally be performing that role building SS will always be inferior.

I haven't played midlane in a long while, but there has been a game or two where the jg/side lanes were actually winning despite our support having DC'd or deciding to AFK, and I opted to build a sightstone myself since vision is just that important, but in a 5 person game that is unlikely to ever be optimal. (I am a support main these days, so perhaps I've always been a fan of paving the way for the team to win via vision more so than a typical player though.)

First someone made a thread about it. 2 more people did the same, and all 3 threads got popular.

Then more threads "countering" the pro-SS threads were made.

Now it's just a little petty fight on Gameplay forums.

It's funny because I've never had this ever come up in a game, but it's all over the boards.
