How to maintain XP as a support??

Srs issue i keep runnin into, just bein out leveled in the room. I know supportin involves a lot of groupin and helpin your team, but it just bothers me so much seein my XP so bad. So let's say the lanin phase is over and my team took bot turret, everyone will usually group mid or top to try to get stuff down. Every one in a while, a massive creep wave forms @ one of the side lanes (usually bot early on). So usually an ADCs job is to catch that farm, but MUH XP THO, and usually my ADCs in solo queue are very neglectful of that bot lane farm anyway.

So I wanna move down there right? BUT my team floats, and you don't wanna split off from a fight as a support if you can help it. WHAT DO??

Easiest way to stay up with EXP is during the early stages of the game. Don't back needlessly if there's still minions in the lane. Always wait to back if you're close to dead or the minions are pushed at the enemy tower.

Same goes for warding. If you leave to ward while the wave is near your tower or in mid lane you'll miss out on a lot of EXP.

During mid/late game, always try to stay in a lane with an ally, especially if there are big farm waves. If your team can't secure kills then you'll need to gain EXP through CS whether you CS yourself or hang around an ally.

Granted, you'll always be a level or half lower than your team because of the shared experience early game, but you can bounce back so long as you make smart decisions on where to be.

If your jungler is just wandering the jungle aimlessly, there's no reason to follow them. If there's a big wave in a lane, you can hang around there but still let your ally take the CS since they need the gold.

It's all about better placement and learning when to move out of lane. Especially if your team can't secure kills easily.

Hope that helps.

Control your roaming patterns and unless you are really leaving the lane, stay within the minion EXP range. If you are not in minion XP range, chances are neither you nor your ADC can save each other.

I don't recommend roaming as a starter advice, but as long as you stay with a teammate for ~75% of the time while they get minions, your EXP will not be too far behind.

I've noticed a lot of supports are 2 to 3 levels behind by the last half of mid game, right when teamfights are deciding the game.
