Unpopular way to become better.

Apart from your in-game mechanics and game knowledge etc, a good way to improve your performance lies in buying better equipment.

Get yourself a better mouse. You can buy a good mouse with 20$, with side mouse buttons that will help you with your item actives. They have good control and responsiveness. I remember having an old laser mouse without all these features, and when I bought a new one, within the next months I went from Silver 2 to like mid Gold, just because of how I was more able to control every action I took.

Another way is having a better keyboard. Again, for the same reason as above, better responsiveness, more comfortable and it "feels" better. it feels smoother. I bought a mechanical one for about 100 Euro, but I believe even ones with much less will do the trick, as long as it's working properly.

Having a good graphics card so that you can play at relative high FPS is also important. Game feels smoother, it doesn't make you tired as much and you generally feel better.

The most important is an internet connection. I'm usually playing at around 73 ms, but on occasion it jumps to 90, sometimes even 110. The difference is big, especially when it surpasses the 100ms threshold. For some reason today, I was playing at 59ms, the difference was also big. Having low ms means you can respond faster generally, which means that you have better reaction time to skill shots (better dodging, flashing etc), better last hitting, better skill shot landing etc. It's extremely important.

Basically, you get a huge innate advantage if you spend some money for better equipment. I can safely say that I went from Silver 2 to at least mid Gold, just because I bought a new PC and a new mouse, which made my gameplay experience better and smoother, and that reflected in my performance. Putting aside improvements on mechanics and game knowledge, having better equipment is just as important as a lot of other things. So, if you think that you can't climb for whatever reason, you might want to look at things like these. Lower your ms, improve your control over your character.
