The Logic That Goes Unused
I want to offer some helpful suggestions regarding bans. I've argued before that reports largely are used for offensive purposes instead of defensively. Someone does or says something that someone else doesn't like and immediately the typical league grief-mongers are begging their team, and the enemy team more often than not, for reports against whoever pissed them off. It's petulant and it's pathetic. Maybe you trust the Tribunal to sort all that out but I don't. But then there are issues that are more nuanced but which should be equally easy to figure out.
If someone is being "toxic", which is the official word for simpleton tools everywhere, or is using language against other people it might be report worthy, correct? But what if the other person returns such comments and contributes negatively to the conversation? How then can a report from either person be considered valid? Would it not make more sense, considering the fact that both parties contributed to the argument in the same way, to simply ignore both reports if they should occur? Obviously neither of them were bothered by the language or whatever other whiny term you want to come up with for whatever happened.
Instead, what happens is both people curse and argue and then both people report each other afterwards hoping that the other party will get nailed with a ban. Can we not put such a ridiculous use of the reporting system to rest by putting in place a policy that negates such a thing? The Tribunal is thought useless by people for reasons such as this, because it's used constantly as a final "fuck you" to someone you argued with in game. That's my suggestion. Put an end to reports like this by tossing them out as they come in and leave the reporting system for legitimate uses. If two or more parties are responsible for negatively contributing to the chat, their reports should be null and void.
