Thresh will always be viable no matter what, he's also quite balanced atm.
Also, the new trist hasn't even been around for a full year I don't think, and she wasn't all that popular a few months back.
Vayne is only recently coming back as a stupidly OP no skill required champ, she wasn't a very common champ a few months back.
As for Riven and Fizz.... well their kits are stupidly simple on top of having shitloads of damage and even more mobility, so unless they're "Olaf'd" into unviability or just reworked you'll be seeing them for as long as this game exists.
Vayne one year of popularity? Wut? I might have seen her 2 times in the cinderhulk meta.
Same for Riven, even now I still barely see her.
I don't see Lee sin or Zed

Tristana was almost completely unplayed after her rework until Riot buffed her several times.
