Do you guys think the new Mordekaiser is OP?

The Godkarther·6/13/2019, 6:26:31 AM·18 votes·19,346 views

I'm gonna be honest and say I think the new morde is broken. I used to like playing the old morde and gave the new one a try today, I did okay myself but haven't played it since. However, he's literally in every game I play and jesus he looks busted af. It's the first time I've seen someone get 3 penta kills in a game, seeing someone get 2 is a rarity. His ult is just like strange, he can walk up and click the weakest person on their team, not have to worry about anything and just smack away at them. Also I'm not complaining about going against mordekaisers, my experiences are from people playing him on my team. Anyway that's just my opinion, what do you guys think?

Really stats do not lie, his WRs are insane for a reworked champion. His WR should be low 40s at best while people are learning him, not 58%.

kda akali6/13/2019, 1:17:19 PM9 votes

not that bad early but lategame u basically cant fight him unless youre ranged. the passive does so much lategame too ive seen mordes get quadras and triples from just standing there.

In my last 20 games, I have come against Morde 13 times. Of those 13 times, he went on to completely and utterly carry his team with less than 4 deaths six times.

I've laned against him top as a tank, and he sustains better than a Shen stacking health regen (and at times faster than people with upgrade boots even without a single pair of their own). I've tried to gank him as a fed ADC, and every time he has smacked me twice and killed me outright with only a single item. I have seen entire games surrender because he's able to casually pentakill an enemy team by ulting someone with good stats.

It's legit to the point where I'm don't want to play for a week because it's become unfun to have a one champ single handedly win games, whether I'm with them.. but more often or not against them.

I usually don't complain about 'OP OP OP', but I am nothing but frustrated

just got steam rolled by him. Way OP

Mord rework is absolutely the antithesis of "broken on release".

His Q is practically a one shot, his passive, should NOT bbe a damned passive in any way shape or form, his E pretty much negates kiting, especially with Rylai's, his W is just a steroided Tryndamere Q? fk me, sounds GREEEEAT!

Yeah nice job whatever idiot at Riot though this jackass up, whoever you are, I hate you, truly. You are terrible at your job and your balancing department is out of their minds to pass this into live servers.

{quoted}

I don't know about anyone else, but for me, every single goddamn game I'm in and he's on the opposite team, we lose.

Basically this, whatever team ends up with Mord pretty much wins lane, then game. I have YET in all my games since he has been released won against him. I even tried scrimming with a friend in custom games, trying tons of stuff. Literally nothing works against him, not in any meaningful way. He is borderline impossible to 1v1 and in team fights he is so naturally tanky he just walks in and out of the fight with no consequence at all. Broken, broken, broken, plain and simple.

As a Mordekaiser Main (sort of) there are a few things to address. First of, he's finally designed to be a Juggernaut, meaning that he is very strong in his effective range but can be kited out easily.

His ult can be used in three ways, either to single out and eliminate a weak link, like an Enchanter support or a Mage Midlaner; alternatively, he can single out a carry, sacrifice himself and allow the team to clean up the 4v4 without him before the carry returns. If Morde is the carry for the team, he can ult someone with good stats, hopefully kill that one within 7 seconds to take their stats before wiping the floor with the enemies.

And lastly, he is a new champion by all means. Riot always releases new champions in a state where people can easily snowball a game as long as they know what they do.

LordGeovanni6/14/2019, 5:03:37 AM4 votes

Yes. mages are op in general though. with very few exceptions

Nikoteen6/15/2019, 9:57:10 PM3 votes

I was playing as a Gnar against him just now. His skills had greater range then my damn auto attacks! No cool downs, crazy shield/heal, constant damage with passive and Q. CC to cover half the lane (guys we gotta chill and give the others some chance right??? pfff... NOT), and he can point and click his R from like a mile away. Whats the point in being a ranged top lane if he can just swing his mace right at you without you even getting in range for it? I don't know what team thinks about these champions and their reworks but this team should get some fresh minds into it, someone with a different idea, and not a "lets make him have no disadvantages at all so people will get back to playing him"...

SammyDayspring6/20/2019, 3:36:35 AM3 votes

Of course he is. Riot does this on purpose. They make new champions and reworks OP so that people will want to play them and spend money.

There is a a learning curve on both sides. In most cases (Yuumi is probably an exception), they make the learning curve easier for the new champ so that people can get used to the new moves without much effort.

Calypsice6/29/2019, 1:29:28 AM3 votes

Not sure why he hasn't been nerfed again tbh. There's literally no counterplay for his ultimate and he gets to approach you for free, do anything to you, and get his passive ready instantly to melt you for over 800 damage within 2 seconds just because he has a built in void staff in his kit.

Overtuned at the least, and actually just broken. Doesn't need to get fed to 1v9 a game, and doesn't even have any mechanics that require skill to back up his performance. Hoping for a revert soon or at least a passive and ultimate change. Getting to point and click someone out of the game is just unacceptable for this sort of game.

dertoger6/17/2019, 5:01:12 PM2 votes

The big issue with him is that he doesn't have any counterplay late, he has 65% magic pen (25 w passive + voidstaff) and does magic damage based on max health, it's nearly true damage based on max health.

at this point he has a point and click ability allowing him to kill whoever he wants for free with no counterplay possible for you or your team. Furthermore he is a monster in fight so in the 4v5 situation he creates its basically won for morde.

silverchain1236/20/2019, 3:46:51 PM2 votes

Literally signed in only too comment. This guy is right now probably the most powerful tank in the entire goddamn game. The guy has a pull, and insanely high damage, especially late game. which should not be so for a tank. Not only that, but the guy can transport you to the goddamn shadow realm and eliminate you. Seriously, they really need to rework, because I don't know about anyone else, but for me, every single goddamn game I'm in and he's on the opposite team, we lose.

FioraWillCarry6/20/2019, 3:53:25 PM2 votes

Well I haven't had a problem with him, at least on Fiora....then again I'm playing vs mostly Bronze and low Silver players who barely know how to play the game anyway so who knows. All they do is feed me. I don't know how I'll fare vs a high Silver or Gold Morde.

  1. Ult is not cleansable. It can only be avoided by using your own ult during ult animation if and ONLY IF your own ult has displacement effect. This effectively wastes your ult in order not to be cought by his

  2. His W is simply broken. Shield that becomes HP and depends on both damage dealt and done with manual activation.. without mana cost. There is no other similar sustain tool in the entire game.

  3. Ult completely stomps any champ that relies on terrain, additional stuff like tentacles, mushroom or mini turrets.

  4. His passive is impossible to mitigate, slow, drain, aoe damage, sustain, executes on 3 spells (which is each 10 seconds in fight), waste no resource at all, cannot be removed, dispelled, stopped, shortened, avoided.

And oh, sorry, forgot .. no mana or hp cost. Honestly I don't know who thought this could be a better idea.. This mordekaiser is simply 'ban or pick' no matter the elo, composition, lane. One definite ban or a lost game.

Pika Fox6/15/2019, 6:13:52 PM2 votes

I dont think hes op, i think hes easier to play than play against.

Ive also noticed he falls off extremely hard later in the game. He can be up 20 kills, but at 15ish mins he fails to kill his target with his R and appears in the middle of the team and instantly dies.

Hes likely just a case of "play safe early, win scaling"

Sndr6/13/2019, 5:05:00 PM1 votes

As someone who plays mainly mage, coming up against him is the worst thing. Once you're in his ult there's just nothing u can do. even if u manage to outlive the space itself his passive always kills u. Unlucky

LordPupper11/1/2019, 12:46:57 PM1 votes

As a mordekaiser main I can tell you that if your versing anyone who knows how he works he is garbage. He’s a noob killer now that’s all he is the cock goblins at riot took the most fun skill expressive unique champion and turned him into a walking overtime damage circle he’s absolute garbage unfun to play and unfun to play againstMordekaiser

Politur grime6/14/2019, 5:25:15 AM1 votes

He got some hotfix nerfs already on his passive.

Ppl need to know how to play against him. Ult is cleansable, e has high cd, w needs to charge before his shield is good and q deals not much dmg when hit with minions. Just the passive drains hp. Every dash, hard cc and burst counters him.

The longer the trade endures the stronger he gets.

Let ppl get along with him and wait a week.

And some view on this. He was out of the game for too long and other champs were too strong, while morde's got called op on the first day.

Vlad Ex Ig 0 Pot11/1/2019, 5:26:58 PM1 votes

Yes, he is. Being able to exile a champion from the game is just plain retarted.

I just got him in ARAM. I had a very bad matchup. Our Akali was afk from the start, other then her we had: Ekko, Xerath, Talon and me as Morde. The enemy had: Lux, Nocturne, Vel Koz, Ashe and Karthus. They basically spammed spells while Nocturne picked off our Mages 1 by 1. I still went 31/12/20 and dragged out the game for almost 37 minutes alongside Ekko and Xerath (Talon was pretty useless tbh). TL DR: Got pretty bad matchup. Fought 4v5 still went 31/12 and almost won. Mind you this was the first time I played Morde outside of a Custom match where I went full ap attackspeed for the lulz.
