Re: Taliyah
It's been a while since I browsed the forums, and I felt like voicing some thoughts I've had lately while playing. This time, it's Taliyah. Let me preface this by saying that I am enjoying her playstyle, and I feel she doesn't really need balance changes where she is (even though one of my opinions is relevant to balance). Well designed, terrifying in the right hands, and simple but interesting mechanics.
Having said that, I've been wondering...
- Why is Taliyah's passive phrased like similar effects (i.e. Boots of Mobility only work "out of combat"), but it's disabled the moment you cast a spell? I can understand the realistic logic, but it should use different terms for clarity's sake.
- Actually, another thing about her passive; why doesn't it have a mouse-over indicator of its range? I mean, it's finnicky enough as it is, but also takes some guesswork to get the radius down. Either that, or you micro-manage the auto-pathing so that you can guarantee the MS boost (loads of fun, that is /sarcasm).
- Why does her Q get reduced mana cost, but not reduced cooldown on Worked Ground? This could be answered by the fact that she's balanced without that mechanic, and that's perfectly valid. I'm wondering this from more of a thematic and mechanical perspective. Thematically, it seems like unworked ground is harder to manipulate but more immediately powerful, while worked ground is easier to manipulate. Mechanically, you're declaring a specific zone for 2 minutes as "Place where Taliyah has 1/3 damage potential with her Q," and the only benefit with her Q is that it refunds mana. Again, I don't think that she needs this, she's balanced well, this part of her kit just feels weird to me. And finally...
- This is more of a problem with all wall-based skills, but why can't Taliyah's ultimate net assists without a direct hit? Realistically, maybe it's because it's almost impossible for the system to give credit for cutting off an escape with a wall, but it's still pretty frustrating.
