Skill, not stats, should be the important factor in micro and macro play

How many times have we seen it? Where in previous seasons it was totally viable to get your snowball rolling and simply 1v2 with very little mechanical input simply because of skills

meanwhile in the current season it seems to be a similar case, but simply on the opposite end of the spectrum

I'm here to argue that the issue is actually how the item system works as a whole

Raw stats are kinda nothing but a shitty system.

The idea of having a custom build makes sense but we don't lose anything when we build an item except that maybe that slot would have been another item, either way we are at an advantage to anyone who has somehow acquired less gold than us, and at a disadvantage to anyone who gains less gold.

Itemization should in fact offer tradeoffs, gains for losses. Customize by tweaking an allotted power budget as opposed to stacking power and snowballing to a point where noone can deal with you, or noone can carry you from how behind you are (Either end is bad)

Sometimes you just get cheesed or you make a single mistake, which can lead to that snowball that spirals your game down hill, it happens to people in all elos, especially now.

I'd like to make the argument that high mechanical skillcap champions should offer a higher potential of outplay capacity at the cost of reliability, and reliable champions should not be reliable in the sense of the solo carry, but rather in the sense of the team.

A malphite shouldn't be able to 1v2 for a double kill, and then get a tower, when the other players have zero impact on him in terms of damage. I'm not saying malphite is a big issue for me generally but I'm saying I've seen a malphite and other similarly simple champions, who are great in their assigned niche of teamfight champions, get to a point where they get too fed to handle

in cases of successful play: the reward gained should always mirror the risk involved. If you are able to steamroll a game on a low skill cap champion kit then that champion kit is inherrently flawed.

I'm not saying that less mechanically adept players don't deserve to have major impact, but again I don't see why everyone needs to be a 1v1 capable champion, since the impact of champions should be more geared towards their classification, roll, and versatility.

I don't believe that a fully mastered riven player should have zero impact on a game of MMR equals simply because of something like her garen opponent getting two ganks and a roam to secure his flat stat bonus and assure him a win in lane.

That garen should have an impact, but again the more risk intensive and mechanically requiring of the kit, the more rewarding the success should be.

That riven should have more of an equal ground in fighting that garen.

So maybe everyone should start at predetermined values, items should flat out replace stats instead of simply increasing them. If you want to go AD garen, your stats change with the item purchase.

Item effects could also be bought with stat tradeoffs. Gold would still be important but experience would be less important.

Does it feel good to win a fight because you've snowballed? I never feel good about simple oneshots, i'd rather feel like I earn every fight not just get lucky with some boosted monkey in my lane gifting me five kills and a tower before 30 seconds into the game (Exaggeration but you get what i mean)

I'd rather feel like I've won the game not because of stats, I'd like to feel like my opponents have a continuous chance to win in every fight, and like it is my skill set and my spread of proficiencies which make me the 'carry' in a game, as opposed to just the lack of congnative capacity of that one guy who i beat in lane... He's in my mmr for a reason too, maybe he sucks at laning but he's a splitpush god, maybe he's naturally charismatic and people listen to him and he calls the most amazing shots ever, but I just rip him a new asshole in the 1v1's.

That's why I'm saying that stat sticks are useless, they rip apart teams. Snowballing doesn't feel all that good, noone likes getting hit with a duskblade from a rengar 2 levels up while they're on an adc.. And frankly no good sport likes just simply and easily 1shotting people. They like the influence they have over the match, they like that they've won the game through their own skill set.

so no malphite solo carry? Well frankly he could still set up those teamfights in such a way to be the carry, just as we've all seen that one god tier leona who always gets the right stun, or the raka who's always on point with her heals.

Team game= fun, Solo carry= fun. Snowbally shitfest requiring nothing but luck=unfun.
