Let's talk about Riot's new LCS inspired balance direction

Has anyone noticed their new buzz phrase that they want people to think about the other teamcomp and pick a champ that would be good for that situation?

Here is a newsflash to Riot, very very few people play that way. We have the few champs that we like and we are going to play them regardless. Nobody cares about countering the other team. Please stop reworking champs in that way. My champ pool has gone from about 7 champs to only maybe 2-3 now and another two is up for a rework in the mage update and taric update. At this rate I will have no more champions to play.

RIP Gangplank, Fiora, skarner, taric (SOON TM), vladimir (SOON TM)

RIP Vladimir, it has been fun (JUST FOR ME HUAHAHAHA) But seriously, most of the people do what you are saying OP. Maybe sometimes if I see like Morgana, Annie, Taric, maybe and I say MAYBE we shouldn't pick Master Yi. But I'm not gonna pick X because enemy team has Y

I think it is because a lot of people don't feel comfortable playing their champion if there is a stronger one available who does the same job. Take Lux and Xerath. Both do basically the same thing, Lux is clearly better right now.

Nerf Lux to Xerath's level, buff Xerath to Lux's level or have them meet somewhere in the middle. It is impossible to get it exactly right. One will always be a bit better than the other.

Another, more important reason is that you don't play differently against a Lux than you do against a Xerath - at least strategically. You focus more on dodging Xerath's abilities while laning, you avoid letting Lux AA you. Strategically, however, you try not to get caught out by a long range stun, you engage when they are poking.

Playing against a Lux is similar to playing against a Xerath. Possibly too similar. If both are in the meta at the same time, too many games could feel the same.

Making these champions more distinct means that you will play with and against them differently. Games will be more varied.

Am I the only one who thinks that Riot can, and should, balance balance around all levels of skill?

If anything prevents a champ from being viable. (As a result of game health.) That's just pain bad. And does nothing for the game. And riot can't really allow a champ to become abusive at any level of play.
