Riot has the balance between damage and cc all fucked up

As it stands, there is so much cc in the game you don't even really need to "spec" into damage on your team-- because if you spec into cc instead the enemy team will be stunned / snared / slowed so often your mediocre damage will be enough to kill them slowly anyway, and they can't do shit to stop you because stunned / snared / slowed.

Think about what having a carry actually does. It makes a target. "That guy does their damage, so kill him and they won't do any"

If all the champions on your team had respectable damage then you wouldn't have a target. "They all do decent damage, so just kill whoever is easiest to kill"

Imagine two teams:

Team A: has a lot of cc in 2 or 3 champions, and a carry or two. Team B: has no carry, but all 5 champions have an ass load of cc and decent damage.

Team A can fuck up if their carries get assassinated. Team B cannot fuck up, because any single person that gets assassinated only represents 20% of their damage output and team fight presence.

Team A has quite a bit of cc available in order to save any specific person on the team from death, allowing them to cycle aggro efficiently. Team B has an assload of cc available in order to save any specific person on the team from death, allowing them to cycle aggro like fucking gods, or not take damage at all because the enemy team is AOE perma cc'd.

It used to be that despite team B's advantages, carries did so much more damage compared to other sorts of classes it made up for their lack of utility.

Over time the raw damage of carries was nerfed, and the average "carry damage" wasn't high enough to make Team A better than Team B, so RIOT gave some of the less damaging carries some utility.

A few years pass, and all damage is nerfed (not just carry damage), and CC accessibility, duration, and power is ramped up.

And now its basically to the point where NO carry can exist unless they have SUBSTANTIAL utility, whether it be hard CC or spammable long range slows or waveclear from across the map or some other extreme utility.

The only champion that exists which defies that rule currently is Yi. He has to have immunity to slows (including the 15% attack speed slow of randuins omen and the additional 15% attack speed slow of frozen heart), the ability to do 500 true damage per second via devourer wuju style, and fucking bonkers physical damage output on top of all that AND the ability to access that in 2 or 3 items so he can become a bit tanky.

He's the only real "pure damage carry" that exists anymore, and his damage has to be so fucking high to compete against so much CC he just kills you in 0.5-4 seconds depending on whether or not you are a squishy like ezreal or a full tank like malphite, and often he is better played with a few tanky items rather than as a full damage carry.

Don't you understand the problem?

Damage is no longer a tradeoff with CC. You don't get to choose "Lets give up some cc in order to have more damage" in high level play anymore. Your decision is "Lets get as much cc as we can, and if we incidentally also happen to get some damage, then thats nice but who cares".

Oh wait I take that back. Yi is the only person who makes that tradeoff. Fiora hardly even counts because LOL SHE GETS MASSIVE UTILITY TACKED ONTO HER KIT IN ADDITION TO BONKERS DAMAGE

You have supports that have so much CC now that ONLY Yi can run them down and kill them solo. For example, Bard can stun for 2 seconds every 4. Do you realize what that means?

It means that marksmen, assassins and "light fighters" are going to have to have some pretty fucked up shit in their kits in order to compete with so much cc through "pure damage".

Look at Corki's rework-- 50% magic damage on his auto attacks and a super saiyan rumble ult. Look at this new assassin item they are pushing on the PBE.

Look at what "light fighters" have to have:

Yi's immunity to slows + true damage on hit bullshit. Fiora's %true damage + a bunch of utility anyway nonsense. Gangplank 1 shotting your team with a crit barrel at late game. Yasuo's 50% bonus armor pen, dashes forever and fucking windwall. And look at the Xin stuff on PBE. Look at what they had to do to jax to make him work-- they literally gave him a real weapon. Don't tell me you forgot about rengar-- he had the ability to stealth kill any carry on your team and his winrate still wasn't all that great, and you know why? Because League has moved away from Team A type compositions, and towards Team B type compositions, where "carries" aren't even really carries anymore, they are just supports with a little less utility and a little more damage.

How much damage to you have to give a champion if they are below par for the course in CC? It becomes ridiculous.

I shudder to think what they will do in a Trynd update.

Nb4 "Mocking shout now reduces damage output by 50% for 4 seconds" or some bullshit.
