Question regarding Graves update

Apologies for posting here instead of the PBE board, but I can't seem to log into there.

I read that Graves can accidentally kill a ward with his new shotgun mechanic when attacking a champion, but does that mean a champion can just put wards infront of himself (E.g. spamming sightstone) to just tank damage?
