Karthus Builds Post MYMU Calculations (REUPLOADED)

So I figured that since the MYMU is coming out in about 3 days (give or take standard Riot update release schedule), I'd figure I could try to see what new builds that our resident Deathsinger Karthus could benefit off of with some of these updated items. I just kinda figured that even though Karthus has been left out of the MYMU, that doesn't mean he can't do anything with some of these new toys we have.

Now to start, I'd like to give a couple basic stats that we'll be using to make some calculations later.

At level 18, Karthus has 1791 Health and 1409 mana. While the health isn't too important right now, it's the mana we want to keep a hold of.

Now I'll be using a Rune page of MPen Reds, Armor Yellows, Scaling AP Blues, and Flat AP Quints, which AP wise gives us 43 AP at lvl 18

Now to start, we have a basic build that doesn't use any CDR and instead goes for my Standard Tanky Tankbuster build which is: item 3020item 3040item 3116item 3151item 3089, and the Hextech GLP-800 (gives 300 Health, 400 Mana, 80 AP, and fires ice shots that slow and deal 100-200 + 35% of your AP as Magic Damage)

The total Stats are the Following:

Item AP: 80 + 80 + 100 + 120 + 80 = 460 Mana: 1000 + 400 = 1400 Archangel's Conversion: 42 Estimate AP (after Archangel's conversion) = 502 Total Estimate AP (Deathcap increase included) = 678

Added to Karthus's Regular Stats + Runes and we have a total of:

Health: 2491 Mana: 2809 Archangel's Conversion: 84 Estimate AP after AAS conversion: 587 Total Estimate AP after Deathcap Increase: 792

This next build uses the new Morello as well as Frozen heart to make for a %45 CDR Build (using the correct masteries of course), as well as adding some good Armor to resist against those pesky Assassins

Stats for this build:

Item AP: 80 + 100 + 100 + 120 = 400 Mana: 1000 + 400 + 400 = 1800 Archangel's Conversion: 54 Estimate AP (after AAS Conversion) = 454 Total Estimate AP (Deathcap increase included) = 613

Adding with Karthus's stats:

Health: 2191 Mana: 3209 Archangel's Conversion: 96 Estimate AP (after AAS Conversion) = 539 Total Estimate AP = 728

This Final Build is a combination of Full CDR, MR, Armor, with the Zhonya's active in as well. (In case of Zed, Katarina, etc)

Item Stats:

Item AP 80 + 100 + 70 + 60 + 120 = 430 Mana: 1000 + 400 = 1400 Archangel's Conversion: 42 Estimate AP (after AAS conversion) = 472 Total Estimate AP: 637

Adding in Karthus's Stats:

Health: 1791 Mana: 2809 Archangel's Conversion: 84 Estimate AP (after AAS conversion): 557 Total Estimate AP: 752

I've set up these builds as what I'll be testing when the MYMU hits this coming week (I can assume around Wednesday I think), now what does this mean Numbers wise though?

Well let's set something up shall we? We'll start with Karthus's Q - Lay Waste, which does damage in a small area but it DOUBLES if it hits a single target, which is nice. I'll be assessing the damage per Q hit, and continual Q damage per minute (assuming you hit all Q shots). Let's compare the damages between these 3 builds. Please note, that while the normal CD is 1 second, at %45 CDR, the Q CD is around .55 seconds, so for the calculation for Dmg per minute, it's going to be Dmg (60 + (60 .55 = 33) = 93)

Dmg per Q (Max Rank): 120 + %30 AP

Build 1 Damage: 120 + (238) = 358-716 dmg, 21480-42960 dmg/min

Build 2 Damage: 120 + (218) = 338-676 dmg, 31434-62868 dmg/min

Build 3 Damage: 120 + (226) = 346-692 dmg, 32178-64356 dmg/min

As you can see, while build 1 has the most AP out of the bunch, it has the LEAST amount of Q damage, however keep in mind it's also one of the more tanky builds, as well as having the Rylai's + Liandry's synergy combo. Build 2's damage was just below Build 3's damage, but it also has the Rylai's slow, as well as a decent amount of armor thanks to the Frozen Heart. While Build 3 has the most damage, it also has the Zhonya's Active as well as the Abyssal Scepter's MR shred which pairs well with Karthus's W - Wall of Pain, which also shreds MR.

Now we're gonna skip over to Karthus's E - Defile, which at max rank deals 110 + %20 AP damage per second as Magic Damage. CDR Doesn't really affect this skill so it's just a game of damage here.

Build 1 dmg = 110 + 158 = 268, or 16080 dmg per minute

Build 2 dmg = 110 + 146 = 256, or 15360 dmg per minute

Build 3 dmg = 110 + 150 = 260, or 15600 dmg per minute

Understandably, Build 1 got the most Damage, Build 2 got the least, while Bulid 3 was just above build 2.

Finally we get to Karthus's Iconic Ult; His R - Requiem. This thing has a Cooldown of 160 at max rank, with a cooldown of 88 seconds at %45 CDR. The damage output at max rank is 550 + %60 AP.

Build 1 dmg = 550 + 475 = 1025

Build 2 dmg = 550 + 437 = 987

Build 3 dmg = 550 + 451 = 1001

While it looks like Build 1 has the most damage, keep in mind that you'd be able to use your ult in almost half the time using Builds 2 and 3. Just a thought there.

Well, that's more or less the summary of what I calculated with the MYMU update items on our friendly neighborhood deathsinger. While it is rather sad that he hasn't gotten anything buffwise, I kinda feel he should be in a decent place if you really know how to play him ;) I might just try one of these Full CDR builds and see if I can't get anywhere with it :P

NOTE: I haven't gotten around to also calculating in any masteries, like Sorcery, Natural Talent, Deathfire Touch, Assassin, or Thunderlord's Decree, so if anyone feels like calculating this mess with that feel free to go ahead lol.
