They heard that people were complaining too much about damage and how it was a better environment back in the early seasons

So they gut punched supports back into 2011

Because everyone surely missed it when supports were effectively half a champion.

Supports can roll into the mid-game with their finished support item (which has comparable combat stats to other fully-built support items) plus enough gold to buy another fully-built support item, without taking a single kill, minion, or even assist. Support economy has overall increased.
