Unless he's plat V with gold 4 MMR or both of you DQ'ed with golds, I think that's highly unlikely to happen.
Find a gold player in between. Both can join his lobby if he makes it. Which is the exact flaw with DQ. Its completely irresponsible of you to do this, but you can and get a huge mmr skill gap so the games will be crazy hard and very volatile.

I am Plat 3 and was duoing with my Gold 4 friend. We got queued with a bronze 5... He ended up dodging because "Riot has been messing with my matches lately.. I don't want to keep on playing with people who are a tier above me". He apparently kept getting matched with gold and silvers as B5.
In other instances, I've seen and been on teams with ranks going something like this: 1 Silver 3 Gold 1 Plat/2 silver 1 gold 1 plat/3 silver 1 gold 1 plat.
Match making is busted sometimes. I do OP.GG checks on everyone now.

I can confirm; When I first hit gold - I started getting matched with Diamonds and Plats. It was like well glad to know Gold means I'm going to need to play on a Diamond level.
i maid support tickets regarding this and other match making bullshit riot dont care, they dont wanna fix it. if i still had the emails i would post but i deleted it along with the other trash in my email. i think riot really screwed the pooch on this one worst than dynamic queue

If your plat friend gets put against silvers, then he has garbage mmr and he's boosted

love how if a plat gets matched with a silver, it means that hes boosted or sucks at the game,
If a silver get matched with plats, it means there is something wrong with the system because there is no possible way a silver can be as good as a plat.
I do feel bad for laughing but that's actually pretty funny.
I guess you can play with him after you prove you can beat him. But, if that's their philosophy, shouldn't your whole team be silvers and him and his team be golds? Platinum is too far away for it to be a fair match in theory.
I played a game last night with an unranked level 30 with high gold players and low plat who claims he did not DQ with anyone. Was quite unnerving, although we did win.
