Suggestions for Matchmaking

So I know that trying to help the community and fix the problems within this company is like throwing feathers at a brick wall. However, maybe, just maybe, someone inside the company will have an IQ over 10 and realize, holy sh** this guy has a point. That said, this isn't for Riot because I know they wont listen. This is mostly for that guy out there, that will one day make a new and better Moba. At least until this has been silenced by the exposed gods. Here are some ideas to implement into your matchmaking system, this is how you make a better Moba.

  1. Allow a kick system prior to the game. Essentially when you are in that infamous pregame lobby, you know the one YOU lose 3 points and 5-15 minutes for when you try to avoid the guy that will ruin your game? Yeah that one, well, design it so that the guy that's actually being the problem, can be vote kicked out of the lobby, so that a new person in Que can replace him. This way, people HAVE to be nice pregame or risk being the guy that loses that 3 lp. Yeah I know, punishing the actual villain is insane, but hey we all want what we want right? You might say, well what about those people who get kicked for playing a certain character....I'll say this, when I see someone pick yasuo, I know they will feed whether or not they have yasuo, yeah I don't mind that guy being kicked also. Like overwatch with the (hanzo/genji) mains. People who do this are a certain type of player, and I wouldn't want them on my team ANYWAYS because they have no "team" sense. So yes, I still stand by this.

  2. Game forgiveness. It is sooooooooo common in league that people leave the game, or flame all game. Well, I know most of the people in this community are tired of it. Here is what SHOULD happen in the event of an AFK, the leaver loses 50 lp and the teammates in the loss lose 0. The winners, get their normal lp because they did earn it. But those teammates, who lose because someone left 5 minutes into a game, losing 20 lp for this? I honestly would be diamond, if it weren't for feeders and leavers, but we all know that the system holds you down, and even tries to force you to have a 50% win rate, which obviously proves it's not about your work, it's about how hard you can fight the system. So ultimately, losses should be forgiven if people leave.

3.Listen to your community. When you go make this new awesome game, remember how much Riot didn't care about it's players and how instead of fixing the matchmaking, they choose to make yet another skin. Just remember, you make more money when they customer knows you care.

  1. Proper Rank. If a player is losing but is constantly the best player on the team, they should not be penalized as much as the guy that was essentially the feeder. Yes winning and losing sides should have lp based on that. So Best player on the winning team gets say, 25 lp, worst player 15. Same on the losing team, best player gets -5, worst gets -15. And you might wonder why the numbers are less severe for the loss, well that is to account for things you can't program for, like players that aren't toxic until they die, or things get hard. By this time it's too late, you have to play with the person, but at least you can report him and just take the loss.

5.Give the players some power to affect change. Riot used to let players have a tribunal, we could determine if people were good or bad, instead, now we have a system that will ban you if you say the stfu to someone being really toxic. People shouldn't be banned or punished because of someone else's doings, so when you make this new game, allow the players to participate in some way to help the community be better, because there are some of us, who believe the internet shouldn't be a word vomit place, it should be a place to help progression. I mean heck, if someone gets 4 reports from his teammates, he REALLY left an impression right? 4 reports, you instantly are done for the day. 24 hour ban. There is no need for perma bans here. People have bad days, even bad weeks, but 24 hour ban will let that person know, hey your being a douche today, go play something else. Simple.

There are so many things wrong with Riot games that I can't really cover them all, but if you go out, use some common sense, and program for the player. I guarantee you can make lots of money. Look at Riot, they make a ton, and they don't even do these things, imagine if you did, imagine how much money you could make!

Good Luck future game designer, and I can't wait to play the new better Moba.

Silver 4 3 LP / 155W 176L Win Ratio 47%

I honestly would be diamond, if it weren't for feeders and leavers, but we all know that the system holds you down, and even tries to force you to have a 50% win rate,

Ok... So your results are 47% when the system is trying to "Force" you to be 50%. Your Sub 50%. Off your forced 50% logic then the assumption is its TRYING to give you wins but what is the result? S4. Great logic. Yes, sounds like Riot and teammates you don't have with you again are really the causation for pushing you down here.

You ever seen one of these before buddy? Normal Distribution Tables.

there are many problems with your suggestions, I will point out issues with just one of your bad suggestions.

"Allow a kick system prior to the game."

what happens if I play a squishy support but my team want a tanky support, are they gonna kick me out cause they dont like my character pick? (does playing the champion Im good at vs what my team wants make me a villain? why am I getting punished?

What if I'm in a duo and a total jerk, but my team cant kick me cause they dont got enough votes? that doesn't solve any problems.

what if I dont like my team comp, so I say Imma troll just to get kicked out of the pre-game lobby since im not losing LP there is no point in dodging.

what about people that play off-meta picks? they will never get into a game.

I already said before on the forums the LP system is a fail. How Riot should handle it should be based on top 5 player performances earn LP and worst 5 player performances lose LP regardless of which team they are on. Now they can give additional LP for being on the winning team but at the end of the day the better players climb and the worse players are left where they should be until they get better.

Edit: I shouldn't say better or worse players but instead the players who performed better that game vs the players who played poorly in that game.

" So Best player on the winning team gets say, 25 lp, worst player 15. "

Thats how it already works, If you're the good guy with good mmr, you'll get up to 35 lp per win & lose 3 on a loss

if you're the worst player with bad mmr you'll get around single digit mmr for a win

People should never be banned over chat,

Theres been a mute feature for years.

You can mute chat.

you cant mute deaths

You see, this is the problem in this community, I make a suggestion for a new and better moba, and everyone gets toxic. This is because Riot does nothing about it, they don't care how toxic you are, they just wanna make a skin and make more money, matchmaking is on the least of their list of to-do's. I understand this guys. You don't need to get all toxic on me and say everything is my fault, trust me, I already know you will say that, Riot has bred that in you guys, it's fine, the message is for that someone who one day wants to make a better moba, and these are simply SUGGESTIONS. Not me cry and wanting all of you vultures to jump at the opportunity to be toxic to someone else. At any rate, I'm done reading and listening, because you can't fix stupid so i'm done trying, good luck to you all.

I agree with you on few things, like "matchmaking needs to be improved" but let me add why I disagree with some of your suggestions:

  1. In paper it looks fine to have a pre-game lobby and players deciding on removing that one player/few players who are going to be the losing player; but instead of kicking them- a better option in my opinion is to have players set pre-requisites for the team: Rank, Level, Win ratio, Number of games played, no autofill, average kda, average kp, cs, damage dealt, vspm, not on losing streak of 5 games,..... Make it like the filters have a maximum limit I know it is more complicated way of dealing things, but players ganging up on someone won't be happening.

  2. I agree that afk player should lose more lp, but that doesn't mean that losing team should lose none. Remember that after a certain patch, the players didn't leave the game, but it was an issue with the client; how to differentiate this? Also, I don't accept that there will be big jump in rank, like Silver to Diamond , but I can agree that there will be a small jump: like silver to gold. If a player is intentionally leaving the game they should be treated same as a toxic player and given same punishments. Low priority queue or 24 hour ranked ban isn't real punishment.

  3. Agreed.

  4. Performance based Rank Adjustment should be included in someway. Problem is, it can be too complex and can lead to stat trading among players to get more LP. Instead, this can be covered under the prerequisites section, so that unless a player performs consistently good he/she cant get good team mates. This will mean that players who go afk often find themselves with similar players and this will save make the mental state of players (especially in low elo) lot better and may even lead to reduced toxicity.

  5. Idk how it worked in past, but I think it got misused or something similar, was leading to lot of unnecessary reports (not sure, just read few threads on it and saying this). Personally I would like it, since players "in-game" can verify somethings like intentional feeding than going by stats.
