Cass Rework Idea (@Riot Repe)

I've seen a few threads in which rep is looking for specific ideas on how to change cass's spells to fulfill the fantasy of a poison mage in a more interesting than "enjoy your DoTs" while diversifying them a bit and putting her in a better place.

Here are my ideas. They're somewhat vague and don't have numbers.

Passive: Cassiopeia's basic attacks and Q applies lingering poison in addition to their damage. Lingering poison is stored alongside health (perhaps turns part of the hp bar a different color?) After not being poisoned for some time, lingering poison begins to dissipate slowly. Having more lingering poison than a certain threshold (perhaps the threshold depends on current hp?) applies <some kind of bad debuff, ideas below> and grants her spells an additional effect.

  • Cooldowns are increased
  • Heavy slow (boring)
  • Mobility spell distance reduced
  • You start to die slowly?

Q: Same spell mechanics as current, but instead of dealing a DoT, it deals a low amount of damage up front and applies a solid dose of lingering poison. When enhanced by passive, it applies an additional DoT for magic damage.

W: Similar to current spell (perhaps larger aoe?). Creates an area which deals damage and slows based on the amount of lingering poison on the affected targets. When enhanced by passive, landing the skillshot on a target will briefly root them.

E: Single target magic damage nuke, as current. Killing a unit results in the target exploding and dealing its lingering poison to surrounding targets. Champions and large monsters explode in a larger radius than creeps. When enhanced by passive it <does something, ideas below> scaling with how much lingering poison the target has. I'm on the fence about if it should reset or not, but probably not.

  • Consumes the poison on the target to do something?
  • Gives cass a speed boost? Weeeeeee
  • Heals cass?
  • Deals additional damage
  • Restores mana
  • Lowers her other cds
  • Defragments your hard drive

R: Same as current, maybe a QoL change to give a stun if people look at her for .3 seconds after ulting or something. I like the current ultimate tbh. When enhanced by passive <does something, ideas below>

  • Stuns for longer? (boring)
  • Grants magic pen? (think yasuo)
  • Grants greatly reduced cooldown for E (against afflicted, or all targets? Think Illaoi W)
  • Grants a shield

Anywho, I've brainstormed some particulars there, but the crux of the idea here is that being poisoned doesn't necessarily mean your hp is dropping, but it is something that will kill or hurt you if you build up enough of it. This offers a lot of levers for the design team to pull, and I think it would offer interesting gameplay in terms of managing your/your opponents poison level, making her fun to play and fun to play against. If there's a downside it's that it's one more thing to keep track of, and playing around her could be a headache.
