Attending Pax Prime? Want to work at Riot?

We are currently looking for high skilled players (platinum+) to help us build out a Gameplay QA team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for an entry level job who is bright, passionate, and wants to help shape League of Legends. Working with others and being able to give effective feedback are critical components for this role. You will have the opportunity to work with design, engineering, and art to influence the creation of new game modes, champions, and champion updates, among other things.

The QA Recruiting team will be at PAX Prime at the end of this month. We will be setting time aside on Friday and Saturday(29th and 30th) to meet up with interested folks. We will be spending time somewhat close to the Esports entrance. If you aren't attending PAX Prime, but will still be in the area, also reach out! I'll do my best to answer any questions in this thread in the meantime.

**EDIT: **Just to clarify expectations, PAX will be more of a meet and greet to hang out and chat about the position with those interested. We will have a Job description for this position later on in the year.

The day has finally come where I am not qualified for a job because I am not great at a video game. I shed a single item 3070 of conflicted happiness.

Hey! This is the team that I'm currently working on. If any of you have any questions about the position I'd love to provide you with some answers. :)

This was probably THE most fun I've ever had looking for, or even being around a potential job. It was more of a meet up, but I'd like to say that I met Riot Ponies/Riot Ames/Riot Dannamoth - And talked with them for .. probably a total of 5~ hours between Friday & Saturday. I have to admit to anyone whom is wondering what this was like, I was AMAZED at the smiling, cheerful riot employees. Usually when you think of Riot, without meeting them you think of some hardcore group of business people who are always serious, and I can honestly say for all of the rioters I met, I could be friends with all of them. I really appreciate hanging out with you guys; getting to talk to you, and meet you.
As for the Job portion, I got two personal cards from two of the rioters, I'm not sure when I'm suppose to attempt to contact you but, I felt as-if I made a great impression and would fit right in with all of these Chipper fellows. The main questions that had been asked were all game related, I was pleased to listen and answer; as anybody who's an avid LoL player would be ecstatic to work with something they LOVE to do. Overall, I had a great time.. even if I don't get the job/interview It was awesome to meet you guys and I appreciate your time.

Thanks,

Hello, I'm a recent college graduate in Physics, but have done a lot of work in game design over the past 1.5-2 years as it's what I want to do with my life. I've been designing my own games for a little while now and would be extremely interested in a position like this. I'm insanely passionate and work harder than anyone I know. I've also tutored for about 4 years, which pretty much revolves around communication and feedback, so I would argue those are highly developed skills for me (I mean if you can't talk to the students you're tutoring, how are you going to help them learn anything?). On top of all that, I have a lot of research work in physics and astrophysics, where analyzing data and searching for solutions is pretty much integral. Is there any way I could talk with someone about the position?

I'm a current D1 player (was about top 1500 at my best point) and have been Diamond since the beginning of S3. I was Platinum back in S2 and have been playing since about mid season 1. I have over 5000 games played at this point I think. Anyway, please let me know the best way to talk about the position!

I wish I could make it out there! QA in any form has always been my strongest skill. I'm always critically looking at whether things work or not no matter what the subject is. I also happen to be Diamond in League so I have a good sense about the game in general anyway. I live on the East Coast though - is there any chance of a poor Easterner like me applying for this position?

Hello, I live in Puyallup, near Seattle. I will be going to pax all four days; and currently ranked Diamond III in NA, will the job be near seattle? or in cali

I live in the UK, have college qualifications in game development and I recently got to plat. Oh and it's my dream to work for Riot. I would happily relocate for a full time position at Riot. Since I won't be at PAX for a meet and greet I thought I'd leave a comment here just to show my interest. How much later in the year will it be till the position is added to the website?

Jo Lancaster8/22/2014, 4:41:55 AM2 votes

Really interested in this but unfortunately, I will not be attending PAX (My wife will be there though!). I meet all the listed qualifications: Diamond 5, live in Washington state, Really attractive, and I am willing to move.

Is there anything in particular I should do since I'm not going to PAX? Well, anything other than going to Riot careers page.

Thanks again!

This sounds like a great opportunity, I was really hoping I'd be able to find something like this at Pax Prime this year!

I am SUPER excited about this, I've been working at surrenderat20.net for a few years now and have really been giving it my all to get involved with anything that can help me to achieve my goal! (to become Riot Woops)

On that note, what should I bring (mentally and physically), as a college sophomore?

Platinum, BTW

PS: FLAN WHY DIDN'T YOU IMMEDIATELY TELL ME ABOUT THIS ;__;

Last time I worked in QA I was let go because we were doing our job too well. Developers hate bug reports.

Also does riot even listen to it's QA team? I've only beta tested games but a lot of devs don't listen to things like X is broken, Y needs work, Z can't be released yet.

Melkorthefoul8/21/2014, 11:59:33 PM1 votes

Hey, I'm not seeing Gameplay QA on Riot's career site. Is it going up there at some point, or do we apply in some other manner?

DeePhan8/21/2014, 9:54:24 PM1 votes

I'd be interested in this im a D1 player with oveer 2k games ;w; #struggle is real

Donkeyen8/21/2014, 9:58:52 PM1 votes

Why is this always at PAX and never at gamescom ?
