why is it whenever i lose a game when i just hit 0 lp and i demote when some of my friends lose 5 games on 0 lp and aren't demoted? I've hit hit 0 lp twice where this happened, don't i get a grace period too? and its in SILVER 3!!!! I'm not trying to get into masters if you're worried about me feeding in high elo

Well you probably have low MMR. Essentially riot wants you to demote down to your appropriate MMR where you could start winning. Your friends MMR's are higher or stable at their elo, so they can lose a couple games without getting demoted. Check your mmr on OP.GG. It gives a rough estimate of where your placed.
