Simple Champions and the Future

This is a quick post despite the title. I was thinking, with newer champs becoming more and more complicated, will there be a point where more basic champs, like Annie, won't be made? Every new champ would have the goal of amazing the community, and whilst this is good, I can't help but think about the point when a basic champ is in order. For example, if we were to be given a new champ along the lines of Rammus, some people might be a little disappointed. If we take the most recent, non-gimmicky champion, which would be Kindred in my opinion, she **appeared ** a little lackluster. Yet, she is an ADC jungler whose ult can, in some situations, be of benefit to the other team, creating a pivotal point of gameplay to play around. Meanwhile, Rammus is a tanky jungler who can taunt, creating ... well, not too much.

I'm not having a go at Riot for releasing complicated champs, nor having simple ones. I really like both types of champions, and as it is, we have a balance. But I'm just curious if we'll ever get more agreeably simple champions.

EDIT: I'll restate this just in case. I'm not complaining. I'm asking a question.
