Why does everything have to be a skillshot?
Honestly though? I miss point and click. If something with point and click was too overpowered there's no need to change it to a skillshot, just nerf it until it's fine.

Point & clicks have no room for error and no counterplay other than: don't get in range or buy a QSS.
Skillshots are healthier in almost every way.

How can cool flashy champs jump around when they get point and click stunned? Probably thats why.
point and click is difficult to balance because of skill expression. They can never be as strong as a character who is all skillshots because the all skillshot character then has a chance to fail while the point and click character doesnt, so there is no reason to play the all skillshot character. However because of this the point and click character will almost never be viable in high level play.
Just further evidence that this game has moved further away from strategy and more toward a high mechanic fighting game. Strategy matters significantly less when it all comes down to how well you can fight in a skirmish. The game has been moving in a horrible direction for way too long in this regard.
-Take out tanks
-HARD nerf vision and remove vision items
-Implement vision removal items like
-Make Enchanters way less impactful
-Try to make Enchanters somewhat viable by keeping their shields nerfed and giving them more damage....
-Allow control mages to dominate the Support role
-Create an AD Assassin Support
-Keep the Top Lane meta dominated by Fighters and Mages
-And more
SO many things have pushed this game to a state where it is all about fighting and way less about control. Map control to be specific. A lost fight used to not be nearly as big of a deal as long as you properly managed the minion waves prior to the fight. Now a single fight can potentially determine the game at any stage of the game since this allows the winning team to blow you up significantly faster than you can blow them up the next time you fight. There is no more Tank or Defense scaling to allow your team to get the game back under control after a bad fight.
It is a sad day when Maokai isn't even showing up on stat sites for several seasons anymore due to how irrelevant he is. Like Maokai, picking Tanks is the same as intentionally losing the lane while praying your team can carry you. Come to think of it.. Maokai is the only Top Lane Tank that has a hard CC point and click ability. You have to look to the Jungle to find the only other two tanks in the game with some form of point and click hard CC (Rammus and Sejuani). Meanwhile you have Irelia who has hyper mobility, more sustain than a Tank, more tankiness than a tank with no resistances, more survivability, HUGE CC potential, and the ability to nuke multiple squishy champions without any support from her team. Why even bother playing a Tank or a controlled style anymore when the Fighters already have it all while building full damage + an occasional health + damage item? It is League of Mortal Kombat now.
Yea... And I would like some point and clicks that arent projectiles that are CC please...

Would be interesting a MOBA game with Smite camera style, and having EVERY SINGLE THING as skillshot. Even the basic attacks.
But it's mostly, because skillshots are. Skilled.
1000 damage 5 sec cd 1000 range skillshot is way more interesting to play with and against, then 500 damage 10 sec 600 range cd point and click
Probably because it is easier to to make a balanced skill shot than a point and click ability.
