How I went from Bronze to Gold in a Summer
This is more of a FAQ of how I climbed the elo ladder and what I personally think the best way to climb the elo ladder, from someone who spent several months stuck in bronze and finally figured out how to get out. Anyways, these are a few of the tricks that I figured out to climb the elo ladder
To start, the first thing you have to accept is you belong there. I got to level 30 just around the time season 5 started, and I did not believe whatsoever I belonged there. But I did, and if you're down there in bronze/silver I hate to say it but yes you do belong there as well. Once you start to accept that you can start to improve and you can hopefully start to climb the elo ladder.
Play easy champions. The skill it takes to play a Lee Sin or a Zed at a high level to execute their kit fully it much much higher than it is to play say a Garen or a Blitzcrank effectively. Riot makes easy champions for newer players so you can just focus on other aspects of the games, instead of trying to constantly outplay your opponents with a complicated kit. Playing easy champions makes it a lot easier to play that champion at a high level. Your mastery of an easy champion like Dr. Mundo after a few games will be much higher than someone trying to learn Vayne. So easy champs is the way to go at first, just so you can work on other aspects of your game. A few champions for every position that I feel are easy, and great for climbing are below.
Top: Garen, Trundle, Dr. Mundo, Cho'Gath Jungle: AMUMU (big one right here), Warwick, Wukong, Volibear, Rammus Mid: Ziggs, Lux, Malzahar, Morgana, Cho'Gath ADC: Ashe, Tristana, Jinx Support: Blitzcrank, Morgana, Leona
You can carry from almost any position (even support), and all of these champions are very easy and if you take the time to master will help you climb.
Play Jungle. Jungle IMO is my favorite position to play and it's also the easiest to carry from. Play Amumu. He's considered a God of low elo for a reason. If you gank lanes and give kills to your laners, they will likely then be able to carry you for the rest of the game. If a guy is raging that you ganked his lane on the other team? Gank it again. Make him rage so hard he can't play (dirty but extremely effective). Low elo is very bad at over-extending and not warding at all, so the jungle position puts you in perfect position to take advantage of this. I know some people consider this a boring position, but ganking is a lot of fun and it's an incredibly important position. You can easily take a losing lane and snowball it hard in the other direction, and completely control the game with your map presence. The difference between a good Jungle and a bad one in low elo is quite large, so a few tips would be to gank in creative ways (like ganking by walking to the ledge by their tower instead of the bush to give yourself more room). And if you aren't playing a carry jungle you can give kills to your laners easily and if they're worth a damn they will help you win easily.
Focus the ADC. This can't be emphasized enough. The biggest difference I would say between lower elo and high elo? Besides objective control, high elo is much better at focusing the ADC. The ADC in almost every situation will be the biggest source of DPS for the enemy team. So if you focus in and focus on catching out their ADC before the fight even starts, you will win the resulting team fight 9/10 times. That's why playing champions like Leona, Blitzcrank, Amumu, or Warwick is so great in low elo. If you catch out their ADC before the fight starts and take it into your hands to eliminate them, you will likely win the team fight.
Use builds from the pro's. The biggest issue I see with a lot of low elo players is they don't know how to build their champion effectively. They rush Spirit Visage vs an all AD team, they build all damage, or follow the suggested items to a T. Mobafire is an ok way to see builds from other decent players, but I believe the best way to learn about good builds. Probuilds.net is a great way to see what pro's are building on your favorite champions.
Watch the pro's play. Before I would learn a new champion, I'd always watch a pro play the champion just to see what they would do on the champion and how they would play as them. It's a great way to learn and watching them can be a great way to notice any mistakes you're making.
Stay up to date on what's OP. Right now it's still a tanky meta, and champions like Mundo, Amumu, and Volibear have extremely high win rates. Look up champion win rates and what position they exceed in (champion.gg is a great site), and that will give you a leg up on the competition if you're playing a champion that is overpowered.
Lastly, I'd say a big trick would be to not rage at your teammates and just be supportive. Do not be toxic. Being positive will be a great addition to your team, even if it's not doing well and it will usually lead to more comebacks and victories. You will get trolls and AFKs. It happens in all divisions and it's just something that comes with the game. Just focus on your play. Everytime you die is in some way your fault. Focus on why you died, what mistake did you make, and not make it again. Was I overextending in lane without any vision? Did I not see the enemy coming on my minimap? Did I not call a roam? Everytme you die is somehow your fault. Accept that, and learn from each death and try to not repeat mistakes. Bashing people for their mistakes will not help at all and may make them rage or AFK. So if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Just be calm and relax, and if you follow these tips like I did, you will improve and start to be better players, and then you will climb. Best of luck!
are all really solid in the roles you mentioned. Trundle in particular is borderline OP, way stronger than he was in previous seasons. I prefer playing him in the jungle, though.
